So you would use three in the same room? (I have the pillow above already). Would pairing the two on the sofa with a stripe or nubby linen help mix it up and break it up?

I am not a matchey matchey person either funkyart. I would never use three of the same kind of pillows in the same room and either would you. That's why your second guessing yourself. I would mix the stripe pillows and such to break it up as well.

Heh.. you are right. I wanted to see them work but I knew I wouldn't like them all together. One is a surprise.. three would be overkill. Death by big flowers.

It's a nice pillow, but -- pattern aside...

If it were me, I would be bothered by the fact that the color of the chair is not in the color of the pillow fabric.

If you want to pull them together, get (or make) another small pillow that has the color of the chair AND one of the colors of the existing pillow.

If that makes sense, lol.

Does the rug have any of these colors?

I also like mix and match. That is a very cool pillow. Is that your chair or is that a catalog picture? Either way - I like it w/ the chair.

mclarke..that photo is from the catalog not my house. However, the branches in the pillow are very close to the color of the leather chair pictured- if not the same. So it is *my* house that would bother you because I have the pillow on a darker leather chair (though it matches the brown velvet trim). It doesnt bother me at all.. in fact, I like that it brightens up the leather.

The green tapestry/velvet back is in a throw and the rug has the browns, cream and a more muted version of the green (it is a soumak rug so the green is more muted).

I would expect you would be more bothered by the fact that the pattern doesnt really match my room .. but that is part of what I like about it.

Thanks, Frenchdressing and ttodd! I know I could have gone with a more traditional floral pillow but this one really spoke to me. I wasnt disappointed at all.. the tapestry and velvet are more lovely irl than the photo suggests. That is the only reason I was thinking I should order more (plus they are almost 1/2 the price now).

Ttodd your english library LR with feminine touches is one of my inspiration rooms. My room will be a bit more eclectic as I have some odd features to work around and I expect to have english, french and asian elements. I have to say, though, I will be thrilled if I come close to the cozy and inviting feel of your room.

And am I to assume that the beautiful flat weave is actually on the floor??

I wish I would have seen all these pics before I left. I found a gorgeous pillow, in Italy, that would have been perfect for an accent. Really cool, with a mixture of leather, velvet, and something else. All those colors, too.

It's looking like five years ago, in Europe. Lots of greens and oranges floating around.

Well the rug is partially on the floor. (Hiding face in shame). I need some assistance and/or some of those moving disks. I am still nervous about putting the rug down with sick dogs but hell, the rug IS for the floor afterall, no?

Only slight progress with the chairs.. well it isnt really progress but the field has been reduced by one option. One of the chairs I was looking at has been discontinued (sound familiar). I am leaning towards the chairs that I think you liked.. they are from hickory white and slightly french and more rustic/simple in style. (it is the drexel heritage chair that is discontinued) I am looking for someone who has it in their showroom though as I want to sit in it. I also still like the mandarin club chairs from gumps but I dont really want to add more leather or more dark color.

The pillow sounds lovely-- velvet is my weakness. Love the oranges and greens too. The orange in the rug is *very* muted but I do intend to being in small orange accents.
