Pillows and throw grouping

I am struggling to find the right pillows and throws for my couch to match our decor.

The rug has a lot of vibrant color, so I’d probably keep it more neutral on the sofa, overall. Mainly solids, with a mix of textures; although you could throw in a patterned pillow also, but I wouldn’t try to match the rug so much. You don’t need a lot of pillows, oftentimes less is more.

you have a lot of white. You need some contrast.

Try something on that large wall over by the dining table. Art, shelving, a tall plant in the corner, if you have room for a buffet, even better.

I'd also do a diff type of light, lowered. the current one is too high and just disappears into the white background.

The sofa, try a mixture of colors/patterns, and a darker throw.

Here, let me show you what I mean

I added art, a vase w/twigs, an ORB and gold chandelier(lowered. should be 30-36" from the table) diff pillows, and throws.

I can't see the rest of the room, so this is all I got!

Personally, I'd paint your walls. or at least one of them, this killer black or charcoal color.

I love this one too.

Look at the sofa color like yours, and all of the accessories around it.

if you like the white and bright, that's fine too. but bring in some art, some pattern, some design elements.

this one has white curtains like yours. but they have some interest w/the tall plant, the diff pillows and the long shelf w/framed art displayed. (go for like subjects and frame styles if you do this)

Don't know if you have an IKEA around, but if you do, check out their cushion covers (I think you can also order on line for many of them). They have some amazing choices for a very reasonable price, and their feather pillow stuffers are terrific, again at a good price (they are not down, but fowl feathers, and are a great deal - I have a ton of them). The Alvine Lov pillow is wonderful, all embroidered, and a good size for your couches. I have two of those - shades of yellow, green and a blue-grey. The Urusula could be a perfect neutral for in there, and is 26x26, so a good corner pillow, with something more colorful in front of that if you like. I also like the Benzy Land.

Thank you BAC717! The rug is probably my most favorite item in this room and honestly I never would have even purchased it if it were not for the help of my fellow Houzzers. I do not have a good eye for decorating, and these guys have really helped me see the possibilities. We've been in our house for 7 years and this room has always been a struggle. it just seemed gloomy and blah! To me, the room has so much more character now and it's more "me". My 2 posters came in the mail this week. I'm going try to get them framed and hung this weekend. We are still undecided on a paint color. Someone recommended BM Natural cream, which I like; however, because I want to use the same color throughout the entire first level, I have to make sure the wall color works with the kitchen cabinet color (BM Dove White), which has grey undertones. I'll check out the color you recommended also. I have a bunch of paint sample cards but no real contenders yet. Good luck with your room. Let me know when you post and I'll check it out.

I think most of us answered defining “best” as plenty of choices and/or creative alternative choices. I like options for my personal look. OP had already gone to stores with specific styles.

There is a concept of value contrast with colors- and also something like clear vs muddy or soft colors. the rug to me looks high- contrast and also more vino, clear colors rather than softened colors. So I would be looking for pillows covers that echo those features. It doesn’t mean the entire pillow or print has to be high contrast, deep and clear, because there could be some prints that include softer or more muted colors , as long as there are some parts or bits in the print or trim that reference the rug, some of the strong red, blue, black, or white. So if you actually wanted to tone down the rest of decor you might look for that type of combination specifically.
