Last Christmas one of my daughters was washing a crystal bowl when she dropped it in the sink. Smash, total destruction! She cut a gash between two fingers clear to the tendons. Off to the ER. This Fourth of July, same daughter, same scenario, off to ER returning with 8 stitches in her little finger. I said, "No way, there isn't space for 8 stitches in your little finger!" Since at Christmas time she got an infection in her cut, this time they gave her an antibiotic. Finished with the prescription she broke out with a horrendous case of hives, on her face to her feet. Massive discomfort. To add to her suffering she was chairperson for a large convention coming to town the day she blossomed! Here she was, greeting folks from all over the states, with her body covered in welts. She said she eventually tired of explaining her situtation and just simply said "I have Hives!" The family has voted to never let her wash a crystal bowl again!!!

Clones can be used to great effect when hybridizing or breeding stable OP varieties, and tomatoes are super easy to clone. I know with human cells, telomere length is a limiting factor on immortality. But cancer cells can achieve immortality in a petri dish, see link below. I am not sure if there is such a limit on plants. Considering 2000+ year old trees here and there perhaps there is not a fundamental limit, and plant clones could be kept alive forever. As for OP vs. hybrid, I'll gladly take the adaptability, resilience and independence from seed co's that OP offers, over whatever gains might be obtained by buying hybrid seed. I want seeds that are adapted to my climate, my garden, my pests and my habits as a gardener. My plan is to just keep chucking tomato seeds out there to see what thrives and produces. My aims are different than a lot of gardeners, for me it's more about resilient gardening than gourmet gardening. I'm happier with the 'wild arugula' that reseeds itself perpetually than with some named variety of arugula that I would have to resow every year. I am a member of a local seed library, $10 lifetime membership, and I have access to way more veggie seeds than I could ever grow, with the caveat that I return extra saved seed when possible. With those seeds, I follow stricter seed saving protocols, because there is an obligation to keep the varieties true. I'd not recommend that children regularly drink water from the toilet either! :) And as far as getting all worked up over cleaners destroying the toilet, I replaced a cracked rubber flap plug (whatever it's called) on a 35 year old toilet after using cleaners, including bleach for 20+ years. Big whoopie deal. I'd rather have a (relatively) clean toilet than worrying about a five minute, $5 repair job every 35 years! Let's be realistic, having that crud in there causes problems too, so take your pick. I've seen these types of cleaners, have wondered about them. Maybe I'll try one out for $5 if I can get it for that.

I like allposters.com, though when you order something online you don't really know what it's going to look like until you see it in person. I got this at allposters.com a couple of years ago. I was a little disappointed in the frame but I can live with it. They would not allow me to crop the title and the artist name from this particular print, although they will allow it for others... depends upon copyright limitations, I guess. I've never looked for art on Craig's List, but I wonder if that might also be a possibility?
