Possible eye problems

My 2 1/2 year old might be having eye problems? I've noticed lately that her eyes seem to be crossing. I'm not sure if the are both turning inward or just one. It is hard to 'see' it happen, I usually just notice it quickly and it is gone. I have an appointment scheduled with her doctor on Friday, just curious if anyone has gone through something like this and has any advice. I have not noticed her having trouble seeing things. HI,

My son is four years old. We notice about a year or so ago that one of his eyes would just wander off, it would not go inward, but it would go outward. It was really hard to see it happen, usually only when he looked distances or was tired or really mad. We went to a specialist and they said he had external strabismus which basically involves the eye muscles not being strong enough, so the eyes don't focus on the same thing, and one wanders off.

He wore a eye patch on his "good eye" for awhile, trying to get the other eye stronger, but that did not help. Now he is losing vision in that particular eye because the muscles aren't exercising, so kind of a lack of use I guess. He is scheduled for surgery at the end of the month, surgery on both eyes because I guess both have it, but one is a bit stronger so you don't notice it. They say once the surgery is completed, the vision should correct itself.

So def take your daughter in, if they say it's nothing, get a second opinion, because we had to go to two different doctors before anyone wanted to do anything.

Well, we finally got SCHEDULED for an eye appointment with the pediatric opthomologist. It is on November 5th. I'm still noticing eye crossing; can't believe it was this hard to get in. We're military in the DC area, so we were referred to Walter Reed (who has been on a waiting list since we started trying), and we are now scheduled at Bethesda. I'll post with any results. I'm sorry I should have been more specific with details. They are grown on a balcony, which receives about 8 hours of direct sun per day. Day time temps here at around 90f, and night time has been no colder than 68f. I cut off the new shoots because they looked very sick, had black all over them, i was afraid they were a fungus, and that they would spread. I am pretty new at this, that's why I am on here asking questions, I am trying to learn the right things to do. :) Also, our area has many native phlox, all of which are in full bloom along road sides and such right now, and look healthy. I feel the time of year isn't the issue, unless maybe this cultivator is more sensitive to fall coming that our native species. Also here is a picture of the stem, you can see some dark areas there as well.

I have read that soil acts as good insulation, and so heat from under the tank doesn't do that much good with a lot of soil. A way to remedy this is to change the land profile by cutting out a portion to become a pond. This eliminates the soil in that area, such that heat is free to come up from below. This will also tend to increase humidity. However, I don't know whether you need higher humidity than that or not. You will likely want to leave glass off of some areas on the top of the tank, if you aren't doing so already. While this decreases humidity, you also must have some air circulation. If you have the area with screen and without glass at one end of the tank, the frog will be able to move between more humid and less humid parts of the tank to make itself most comfortable. -Jmcat

Full adhesion in 7 days really means that the primer will be adhered better after full cure than before. The more cured the primer is, the better its grip will be on the substrate. It doesn't mean that you have to wait 7 days to topcoat. You can topcoat when the primer is dry to the touch, usually under 4 hours. A latex primer like Zinnser 123 will not block out all stains. Stains that bleed through the latex primers you will need to use BIN or Kilz or some other kind of oil based primer to kill. The primer globbing up could be due to any number of reasons. Remember that when working outside, too much wind and direct sunlight could cause the paint to dry too fast so that it will glob up and pull.

I think your cat should see an eye specialist - I am sure your vet could make the referral/appointment for you. We have been to the one in Toronto, Ontario so hopefully there is one located in your area. Our cat came down with primary glaucoma - very fast - and we got him to the vet's fast. Eyes are somewhat specialized (my husband has just been to heck and back with his) - so I would really suggest an expert's opinion. If you have other pets, they may not be able to have access to your cat when meds have been applied. You will need to ask for the best/worst case scenarios. Hope all goes well.
