That sounds disgusting! I cringe any time I drive by the scene of a car accident. I used to drive the highways 70 miles a day and I saw plenty of accidents. Occasionally I'd see the ambulance with the victims. I'd drive by and say a prayer for whoever was in the wreck. Glad it wasn't me. I had a few near-misses during the years.

When a child is carrying on in a store for no good reason. That really bothers me A LOT. It makes me walk as far away as possible. (No disrespect to those who have kids, but it does make me cringe along with seeing kids talk back to their parents).

I don't watch anything like that. I don't see any humor in watching people get hurt.
Anyone spitting in public will make me cringe.

Seeing children in stores in their pajamas, especially the ones with feet and the kids are walking on the floor.

Children in grocery store shopping carts with bare legs and feet, no sweater, but the person pushing the cart is wearing a sweater.

Children standing up in shopping carts.

Young people buzzing along on motorcycles, weaving in and out of traffic.

Young people on motorcycles without proper helmets or clothing.

Overweight children.

Children who tell me they go to bed at 11 p.m. on a school night.

People who say they are carrying credit card debt.

One more: Seeing videos of people falling down or otherwise "crashing" which is supposed to be hilarious.

I cringe when I see dogs running loose, it is dangerous and against the law.

I cringe when I see infants being walked about in the winter with nothing on their heads, or on their hands...And I don't buy the adage that the child will not keep a hat on..these are little babies... the mothers are dressed appropiately and the babies are not.

Something that made me cringe today on the Today show.A clip about the bacteria/germs found on and inside bathtub toys.It also talked about not storing the toys in an uncovered container in the bathroom because flushing the toilet can spread bacteria and germs several feet into the air every time it is flushed.We have the kids toys on the floor by the tub in a plastic dishpan,but after today,NO MORE! I'm going to WallyWorld and buy new toys without holes in them for the tub and they will be stored in a container with a lid.This was all something I had never thought twice about.We disinfect the toys regularly but I never thought of what the "inside" might be harboring!

Sitting in a restaurant and someone close blowing their nose like a foghorn or doing that hacking spit up cough. That sure takes my appetite away.

Lillipad,you might want to re-think that container with a lid.Think about it~~~~~~~you put wet toys in it ,put a lid on it,and what happens when wet and closed combine,more bacteria,ie mold.For years people have been leaving the kids toys in a basket/hammock type thing in the bathroom,and how many have you heard of getting sick from it.

Sometimes i think the dirty and bacteria thing is carried too far!! How are we going to grow our immune systems if everything we touch has to be sparkling clean and disinfected.Look at all the homeless people,they don't seem to get sick very often,as i see the same ones everyday.

My cringe thing is also someone blowing their nose at the table,and/or the hacking spitting thing.GROSS.

Like someone already said, I cringe when I see dogs in parked cars when it is even just a little bit hot outside. The temps in those cars can get really high from the solar heat, even with the window open just a crack. Come to think of it, I really hate to see dogs mistreated in ANY way. I was a mail carrier for many years and believe me, I saw some really sad, neglected dogs over the years.

Tobacco juice and the consequent spitting. In Texas a lot of men chew. Disgusting, unsanitary and unhealthful. Very unhealthful if they happen to spit in one of my flowerbeds. "He needed killin'" is a valid defense here.

Seeing dogs riding in back of pickups.

oh Glenda, you have touched a very sensitive issue with me. We have a guy that rides around town with his dog standing on his tool chest in the back of the truck. You see him driving in town everyday.. Someone called the humane society and they had a court case. Last all I saw the case was dismissed, and I honestly think he likes to continue this practice to show the towns folk he can get by with this. Poor dog, dog lover that I am, when I see him, I back away from him, it would hurt me so much if he slammed on brakes and the dog fell out and he was hit. Don't have the details as to why there were no charges.

I agree with socks about children not dressed properly for the weather. It breaks my heart to see parents all warm and cozy in their jackets when the kids have on shorts and tee-shirts. What the heck are they thinking? I really have to bite my tongue to keep from saying something to them.

I can't watch nature shows on tv.

I can't stand to see little baby crying when I am in a store and the mother pushes the cart along and doesn't pick them up and try to comfort them. I am not one who believes in letting babies "cry it out".

I cringe when I see dogs on chains in muddy yards and horses in tiny little pens with no hay, and mud everywhere.

I especially can't stand kids walking around with bb or pellet guns...and sometimes out in the country, even .22s.

Another thing that makes me cringe...parents whose kids are dressed like a rag man's child, but they are completely adorned themselves in all kinds of tattoos and piercings.

The way some people push the shopping cart or stroller out into the street while they are looking to see if it's all clear. If it's not safe for you moron than it's not safe for the cart or the child either.

Women who leave their purses in shopping carts.

Probably will offend someone but babies propped with bottles. Bad enough mom won't breast feed but at least take the time to cuddle you little one.

Young children in loud places like concerts and auto races.

Parents screaming and cursing their children in public. I seem to be running into that alot these days. It definitely makes me cringe and my heart goes out to those children.

Kids running amok in stores and restaurants, or screaming and generally misbehaving. It makes my skin crawl, and their parents are completely oblivious.

I can't stand when I see people wasting things. I'm not saying you need to save every plastic bag you've ever received, but spend 2 minutes to donate, recycle or repurpose!

Also cringe when I see people who have BIG financial debt making bad choices AGAIN! Geez, I can't pay my bills, but I can go out to eat each night and buy big cars I can't afford. THINK for a minute!!

I'm a big ole chicken (hit too many times when I was a child myself), but I've had a talk with myself, & I'm now committed to calling the cops & following the people until the cops get there.

There isn't a single thing noted here that I don't cringe over. One bing thing for me is when the circus comes to town... I cringe thinking of those poor animals being put through the motions of entertaining humans. Guess you can tell I don't support it.

I'm not afraid of a little bacteria. My immune system is very strong. It really doesn't bother me if the toilet lid is up, as long as people flush when they use it. My Grandmother had a saying, "You have to eat a peck of dirt before you die." There are bacteria everywhere. Most are harmless or even beneficial.

I cringe at a recent TV commercial for a cold remedy where a sick woman blows her nose into a soppy tissue, then slaps that germy hand onto an office vending machine to get the remedy. ICK! Lady, Go Home!

I don't like to see children with propped bottles of anything -- awful for their teeth. Equally bad, people with good, *fluoridated* tap water available who buy bottled water and pop for their kids to drink. There's one whole aisle in every grocery store filled with nothing but sodium-laden snacks and junk liquids.

I don't think what's shown on "American's Funniest Home Videos" is funny. Don't like zoos or circuses or marine animals in captivity. Don't like it that other human beings think *perverse* or pust plain *mean* is 'fun'.

I'm with Marilyn about the nature shows;
there's always some animal that gets hurt or killed.

I never read animal stories for the same reason, especially in the Reader's Digest;
the beloved animal always dies at the end.

& like Orie, I don't go to circuses or shows where the animals "perform".

I once, with a lot of other people, got onto the back of an elephant at Ringling Brothers circus, & I was shocked at the brutality of the handler;
the elephant had worked hard at her performance & was exhausted & cranky...
& the handler bullied her (cracked his whip or goaded her or something, I can't remember exactly what) until she stood obediently still while a bunch of us idiots sat on her back.

She was *tired*, & she shouldn't have been forced to "perform" that totally unnecessary bit of additional labor.

I used to read all the books about the Lippizzaner (sp?) Stallions, too, & was thrilled to see them in Dallas one year.

What the gorgeous, glossy photos in the books do not show is the extreme stress to which those "tricks" subject the horses' muscles & the aversion of the horses to perform those evidently painful, difficult tricks until they're goaded & kicked into doing them.

I cringe when people bring toddlers and babies into the hospital and then let them crawl on our gross floors or over the bed of their sick relative with VRE or whatever, even after it is explained to them that it's not a good idea and why.

Oh, and screaming kids and babies in a hospital. Why do people bring tiny kids and even newborns into a hospital with very sick people? I can understand if the patient is dying, and alert, who wants to see that baby but don't stay for hours and hours. It's not healthy for the baby and when the child starts screaming, it's not something our sick patients need to listen to.

Then there's the people with huge families or church congregations who pour into an already small hospital room to visit the patient. They're loud and obnoxious with kids running up and down the hallway. Even the adults are sometimes loud. Why don't they get that it is a HOSPITAL?!! And ten or more of you in a four bed ward full of other patients is not a good thing. It's an invasion of privacy for those other people who are trying to use the urinal, vomit or whatever. Had one little kid press a button on a very sick old little man's air mattress a couple weeks ago. Took forever to get his mattress reinflated. They were letting this little kid run up and down the hallways.

And while I'm griping, why do family members throw all their crap (food, purses, coats, etc...) all over our clean beds and bedside tables? Even after you explain to them that everything has to be stripped and recleaned, causing more work for everyone? The other day some pig threw a bunch of candy wrappers and newspapers all over a clean bed and table. We have a high turnover of patients and it slows down other patients coming to the floor from the ER because of these stupid people. This is one reason your family member has to sit and wait another hour or two in the ER. Housekeepers are recleaning too many beds over and over. Oh, and please don't use the patient's bathrooms. They are for patients who probably need that bathroom quickly. Why people want to use a sick person's bathroom is beyond me, anyway. Vomit, bloody drainage and body fluids going into that toilet all the time, diarrhea...do you REALLY want to use that toilet? Oh, and that STAFF ONLY bathroom means for staff only. Then there are other incidents of people who can't read signs, the EMPLOYEE ONLY sign on the breakroom door means don't come in. It's for our free time off the floor to eat and relax for what little time we have. Why don't you use the call bell or go up to the nurses' station and ask your question? We've recently had a nurses' wallet stolen out of our breakroom after a family member was seen in there alone.
