Another late-comer here, Florence, but my birthday greetings are just as heart-felt. Wish I had taken some pics this summer. Stacy, you gave me a grin! Yes, you're absolutely right about having a hand in that recipe. I remember that fire vividly! ;) You know, one of things I do after I've tried a recipe and like it is make extensive notes. If the recipe turns out well, I always want to be able to make it exactly the same way. Rewriting recipes is something I do to most of those I make repeatedly...I've noticed there are a lot of recipes out there that are poorly written, or don't give very good instruction. My thinking is...when my thinking goes...I want to be able to make it again. I usually make personal notes as well, like which pans I use to make the sauce, cook the pork, etc., just so I don't have to think about it. That's probably a little excessive to some, but it really helps me when I'm getting prepared. You both have no idea how happy it makes me you use my ''instructions''. I don't always feel like I have much to contribute to the Cooking Forum (too many good cooks here), so it's very nice to know the combination works for you. Pizza making wasn't easy for me initially, so figuring something like this out was a big deal at the time. Considering how easy it is now for me to make pizza, it was worth writing all the steps down!

Thank You ALL! I thought you might like to see what I woke up to this morning. This was made by my husband, who used to be The Reluctant Baker; now he is The Accomplished Baker. I think he did an excellent job for a guy who only attempts this once a year. The cake is four layers, the pecans are toasted, and he does it all now by himself. He only asked me one question yesterday, ''Should I use cake flour or regular flour?'' What a guy. (I'm sorry I haven't worked from Sharon's incredible tutorial yet, but it's on my list for the coming year. The photo is only a matter of record you see!) The best gift I received was a kiss from my sweet dog, who is still with us! She's stingy with kisses, so that was a big deal. The bigger deal is that she seems healthy and happy, which I think is because of all of you. (Remember, ''Please Say a Prayer for Luna''?) She was here for both our birthdays this year. It's six months later after her ''aggressive cancer'' diagnosis so this is a huge gift. Here is a recent picture, and another from when we took her swimming (her favorite thing to do). I appreciate all of you and count you among my blessings.

That's a macro closeup of a bougainvilla flower.
I love that dark magenta colour..it's my favourite! I've planted several of those in our garden.

Aw, Thanks everyone! My day hasn't actually started yet, except here at the Cooking forum. Yesterday was lovely, until dh called me from the garage telling me our dog had a smackdown with a car. She unexpectedly crossed the street to meet and greet a neighbor and ran into a moving vehicle and knocked herself out cold. I guess it was pretty scary as it was thought she was dead at first, by him and the neighbors. She was bleeding from the nose and coughing, and by the time she was completely checked out, back to normal. Whew!

Sharon, I used to have a bougainvillea exactly that color! Thanks for starting my day with such a blast from the past. And Sol, of course being a Scorpio, fall colors are my favorite! Thank you all.

I'll check back a little later to let you know how the day turned out. The good news is my dog is healthy, the weather's fine and the day glorious with fall leaves...
