Anyone have problems with their pull-out trash cabinet?
Comments (35)One of my client's broke her pull out which is a cabinet door attached to a bottom mount pullout. She said she was pushing trash down into it (which I believe, she was probably cramming). She said drinking was not involved, (which I don't really believe). Anyway it can't be fixed without replacing the bottom of the cabinet since the screws split the cabinet floor when they pulled out. I think it is a design flaw, and would recommend a top-mount style....See MoreLovers of pull-out trash cabinets, what did you have before?
Comments (23)I agonized over the trash location as well. I've always had freestanding trashcans sitting somewhere - usually in the way - on the floor of my kitchen and have always hated them. I've never been able to find one that I liked or that matched my kitchen, so I've always just had to settle for whatever I could find. I can't stand to have my trash can in the pantry - it just seems incongruous to have my trash in there with my food. I don't like the idea of having it under the sink because I don't like having two functions in the same place. Why agonize? I loathed the idea of having to open the trash with my potentially dirty hands and those free standing cans always had a hands free option. Enter the GW Kitchen forum where I learned about the foot pedal for trash cabinets and the whole thing was decided. I absolutely LOVE having my trash hidden in a cabinet. No one has to move out of the way in order for someone else to access it. Yes, guests have to be told where it is -- but how is that different than anyone else's kitchen? In any kitchen that doesn't have a freestanding trash cans out in the open, aren't guests always having to ask? I never know if it's under the sink or in the pantry or in the adjoining utility room, etc. To review: I love my pull out trash because it's: -- Hidden -- Accessible -- Hands free -- In a convenient and acceptable (to me) location...See MoreHelp me choose pull size for pull out trash cabinet, 5 or 7"?
Comments (5)@HU-187528210 I am using the 5" on all my uppers and lower cabinet doors, plus I am using the 5" on three other drawers. I am using 9" on the other stack of drawers. I haven't decided on the drawers in the bar area, either using 7" or 9" there for 24" drawers I just thought maybe the 7" would be easier to grab for the trash pull out and would match the 7" handle for the 24" microwave drawer in the island So hard to decide....See MoreLarge pull-out under-sink trash bin with lid that comes out when pull
Comments (2)We stayed in a villa at The Cape (a Thompson hotel) in Cabo San Lucas earlier this month. They had this neat trashcan! I liked it so much I took pics to show our designer. I couldn't determine the brand but my designer said Hafale makes a similar can....See Morealku05
