I was going to ask this same question today! Great minds..... ;) Anywho, I'm not concerned with the "messy" hands- I plan to use a bin pull on the trash cabinet. But, I am also wondering if I can use the same pulls on dishwasher drawers and refrigerator drawers (obviously, I plan to use panels on these appliances, hence the need for hardware). Anyone have this? I want to keep the hardware styles to a minimum.... of 2 to be exact. Bin pulls on the drawers, knobs on the doors.

I agonized over the trash location as well. I've always had freestanding trashcans sitting somewhere - usually in the way - on the floor of my kitchen and have always hated them. I've never been able to find one that I liked or that matched my kitchen, so I've always just had to settle for whatever I could find. I can't stand to have my trash can in the pantry - it just seems incongruous to have my trash in there with my food. I don't like the idea of having it under the sink because I don't like having two functions in the same place. Why agonize? I loathed the idea of having to open the trash with my potentially dirty hands and those free standing cans always had a hands free option. Enter the GW Kitchen forum where I learned about the foot pedal for trash cabinets and the whole thing was decided. I absolutely LOVE having my trash hidden in a cabinet. No one has to move out of the way in order for someone else to access it. Yes, guests have to be told where it is -- but how is that different than anyone else's kitchen? In any kitchen that doesn't have a freestanding trash cans out in the open, aren't guests always having to ask? I never know if it's under the sink or in the pantry or in the adjoining utility room, etc. To review: I love my pull out trash because it's: -- Hidden -- Accessible -- Hands free -- In a convenient and acceptable (to me) location

I'm mostly looking for something side mounted. Thought I could have that set up with the second container for extra garbage bags.......I plan to use a bathroom wastebasket under the farm sink. Bathroom wastebaskets are pretty small but it won't be a big deal to take it out every day or two. That's likely all that will fit?? Anyone know? If you have a farm sink, can you measure the door height for me? Maybe I will have to put it somewhere else. plllog, if I search for Blum hardware I might find this? I did see one at rev-a-shelf for a hundred bucks. I'm thinking I can make one for a lot less. Unless the drawer slides are more than I think. It does feel good to be down to garbage placement and light fixture refurbishers though!I remember when floor plan #1 looked good. Now I am on either #5 or #6.

There is a true "swing-out " that I have seen but the picture above is not it. It is a case of the can being attached to the door and so it comes out of the cabinet when the door opens. I can't think where I saw this, maybe Ikea? The downside IMO is that you can only have one container coming out -- in a pullout (if you choose) you can have 2 containers in the pullout. The thing that I do like about the 2nd picture is there is a built in lid that doubles as a shelf above the bins. That Rev-a-shelf unit is pricey, though!
