Oh Compumom, you made me laugh! It could be a while yet before I start cooking. I got some things called Toasties from a coffee shop a while back. They're simply fancy sandwiches, cut extra thick, with interesting fillings like Chicken and Guacamole, which are served to you toasted. I bought a couple to freeze, and toast myself at home. Well - it worked just fine the first time. I put the Toastie, frozen, into my small cast-iron frypan on a fairly low heat, and with a lid on, to allow time for thawing before it browned. It took a while, but it was nice. So I tried it a second time. This time, I walked away and clean forgot about it. (This happens frequently, since my short-term memory is shot to pieces. I get side-tracked so easily that I often forget where I'm up to in making a cup of tea!) I only 'remembered' the Toastie when I noticed black smoke permeating the study, far from the kitchen. Exit one Toastie. So much for my return to the kitchen, m'dear! I am definitely NOT to be relied upon to work in there with absolute safety. So I'm still getting Meals on Wheels. Sigh. And yes, one of these lovely men has replaced the battery in my smoke alarm!!

Thank you everyone for the good wishes! It began very nicely, lots of phone calls etc. We had a late brunch, then a movie and out to dinner with my parents. Unfortunately later in the evening something tore my stomach apart and I spent the rest of the night you know where. I'm quite ill today, the doctor saw me and thinks it might be an infection. I'm staying on clear liquids for the time being. Sigh, definitely not my best birthday! LOL, Woodie Absolutely, Diana! How nice to see messages from Weed and Doris!

I didn't realize that you and Lee had the same birthday! Have a great day, and let us know what you end up doing. I remember one year you said you went to a lobster restaurant in Santa Monica, and that's still on my list of places to go for one of my birthdays.

Hi everyone, thank you so much for my birthday wishes!
The morning was rough, my dad is now in a home and has declined so much. I went to see him for a hug and birthday wishes. He managed the hug, but not much else.

At work I had cards and a nice plant as a cheery hello on my desk. A casual dinner with DH, the kids, the grands and my Mom who were all bearing gifts! Jayden my 5y.o. DGS, everywhere he went told the entire world how old I am today! The little stinker! That's the last time I tell him confidential info! LOL

Sorry to hear your dad is declining, but glad you got a hug. Don't you love gk's! Too funny about Jayden. Aleksi keeps getting my age backwards, which at this point is not very beneficial.
