For your birthday present, I give you an extra hour of sleep, grin. Oh and I waived at you from the 405 yesterday, on the way to/from Santa Clarita. Hope you caught it, LOL.

Oh Compumom, you made me laugh! It could be a while yet before I start cooking. I got some things called Toasties from a coffee shop a while back. They're simply fancy sandwiches, cut extra thick, with interesting fillings like Chicken and Guacamole, which are served to you toasted. I bought a couple to freeze, and toast myself at home. Well - it worked just fine the first time. I put the Toastie, frozen, into my small cast-iron frypan on a fairly low heat, and with a lid on, to allow time for thawing before it browned. It took a while, but it was nice. So I tried it a second time. This time, I walked away and clean forgot about it. (This happens frequently, since my short-term memory is shot to pieces. I get side-tracked so easily that I often forget where I'm up to in making a cup of tea!) I only 'remembered' the Toastie when I noticed black smoke permeating the study, far from the kitchen. Exit one Toastie. So much for my return to the kitchen, m'dear! I am definitely NOT to be relied upon to work in there with absolute safety. So I'm still getting Meals on Wheels. Sigh. And yes, one of these lovely men has replaced the battery in my smoke alarm!!

I'm very late here with my Birthday wish Shaun...looks like you and the girls had a great time!! The lady that is in front of the lady that looks like Cathy looks like she could be your twin or sister....did ya get all of that? LOL! FWI, I think of you and your frogs now that I have a pool and scoop several of them out everyday....I wont' mention the other critters that have met there end in the pool....lol David

Hi everyone and thank you for the good wishes. I guess they must have worked, because I had a very nice day! I took the day off of work and had lunch and did a bit of shopping with DD, then caught up on errands and work on the remodel. I even managed to fit in some "me time" for a manicure. Tonight we dined at a relatively new Italian restaurant called Farfalla. With their bread they served a roasted veggie pureed spread that DH adored. My meal was Branzino (Italian Sea Bass), crashed polenta, and rapini. For dessert they served a refreshing mango sorbet. DH had veal Saltimboca and Mom had the Piccata. All of us were delighted! A less stressed day was the perfect gift! No time with the grands today due to schedule conflicts and early bedtimes, but they made sure to sing to me over the phone. We'll celebrate on the weekend! P.S. to Lars-- I'm happy that you enjoyed your birthday at the Lobster and pleased that my description inspired your visit!

Thanks Annie, I had completely forgotten that the Monkey Princess was my birthday twin! Actually we also have Lee in Colorado with the same birthday, so make that birthday triplets! I hope Makayla was properly feted! I had a terrific day-- week! My dearest friends took me to lunch and dinner was at Maggiano's with the family after the kids TaeKwonDo session. The only bummer is I wasn't planning on buying a new oven for my birthday present! (see post about oven advice) In the afternoon between lunch and dinner I was out shopping for a new double oven! Oh well, it will be new and shiny when I finally decide which oven to buy LOL !

*I was at a ballgame today (where else would I be) and a little brother of one of the players was in the stands; in lieu of Beau being there I kept flirting with him and I think I creeped him out. I've got to watch myself!!!
