Wouldn't you know it......

I've posted about Hubs and I wanting to get a downstairs Apt. and one probably coming available by April first in our Bldg. They haven't officially given notice, but word has it that they are moving. Being this is March 1st, they probably put their notice in by now. Well, yesterday another Apt house called and a downstairs Apt is coming available by April. Now we have to call our Bldg manager and find out what's up. We really want to stay in this Bldg. There are people who are so good to us. One fellow moves our car when the lot is plowed after a snow, and he brings our newspaper and puts it by our door each morning. Of course, we slip him some $$ to help him out being he is on a fixed income. Our car-guy lives just a few blocks from us and when the car needs servicing, he drives me back and forth when I;'m dropping it off at his place and brings me back. Besides, we have a lot of friends here. I hope our Apt manager tells me it is a go, for us, so I can start gearing up for the move.

Good luck with that. I agree with you that you have a good lifestyle there, and moving out of the building might not be as good.

Annececelia...you will probably get more comments if you post again on the discussion side. The "gallery" is a pretty sleepy area. But....I was really pleased to see your post. Several months ago I bought a Blue Dragon. While looking at examples and descriptions on various sites, I realized my leaves are "wrong"...even more so than yours. I would describe mine as quite ruffley. It wasn't quite so obvious when I bought it, but they are getting much more ruffled as time goes on. The new blooms are about to open, so I may have another surprise. I'm guessing there is a very large plant with ruffled leaves in its genetic background. I was beginning to think mine was mismarked (have had that happen too).

I had the same thing happen here today. First blooms of the season - Happy Hooligan & Spacecoast Tiny Inferno. It rained and I couldn't get decent pictures of either. DWJ looks very nice. Just my color. Michelle

Here are a few pictures taken this evening. The sun came out and it is quite pleasant following a mainly murky, rainy day. IÃ¢ÂÂve got hostas in pots left, right and center clustered in groups around the house where they receive some light to stir them up, whilst the overhangs and decks shelter them from the rain (I live in a temperate rainforest region). Most are showing to some degree. The usual suspects (Liberty, Sagae, Montana A. Marginata etc.) I expected, but Raspberry Sundae and Marrakech surprised me in rising so early out of the blocks! Tiddisolo, that is quite the parade of hosta troops you have lined up there. IÃ¢ÂÂm trying to contain my container community, so I am beginning to pass on Ã¢ÂÂpensioned plantsÃ¢ÂÂ to pastures new (friendÃ¢ÂÂs gardens) - whilst the battle-scarred and the weary Ã¢ÂÂ¦get weeded out! Several of your pots are brimming with pips. TheyÃ¢ÂÂll make for full flavoured drinks! Do you try to Ã¢ÂÂmanageÃ¢ÂÂ them any way so that they stay vigorous without needing to be repotted too frequently? Whatever youÃ¢ÂÂre doing, or not doing for that matter, it seems to be working! BC

Well, a bit more progress to show. I was out of town for part of last week, but while I was gone they removed most of the siding from the back of the house where the kitchen addition will be and removed the screen porch. Since then they have also removed most of the siding around the upstairs slider that will be replaced with windows. Hopefully our permits will be returned this week and we'll have a foundation hole and the slab from the screen porch will be cut back to make room for the addition (the first 3' of it are in the way).

I sure hope it works out for you to stay in that bldg. Knowing you are good renters should give you an advantage over starting with new people. I hope you have plenty of help with moving.

Keeping everything crossed. Hope it's in your building. It would be much easier (and cheaper) to move "in house" than have to move to a new location.

Hope it works out for the same building but remember, sometimes things can even be an improvement in a different place. Maybe there's even some advantages to the other place? Check it out so you know. I sure understand your reluctance to leave the building. I know I like to stay with a "known commodity" or at least the "devil(s) you know" when possible but have learned that things can work out to be even better at times.

If the renters have given notice, they should be able to confirm to you that it'll be available. I don't see any reason why they couldn't.

How far away is the other one? I'd try to keep that one available. Talk to the landlord or manager and just tell them it's important to know so you can decide. You really should get it in writing too so they don't talk you into staying and then not get the apartment after giving up the other option. Although I suppose you'd have to give notice there to move to the other building too.

Hoping for the best and keeping fingers crossed for you. I'm sure all will be fine.

BTW, if I can be of any help when you move, let me know. Be glad to do what I can.
