Deb, that bread machine makes loaves weekly for me, for Elery, for Amanda, the Monkey Princess' "sugar bread", all the sandwich rolls we use, and now I've been making honey wheat for Elery's Dad, he loves the stuff. It made all the rolls for the sandwiches at our reception and for the wedding guests at the "Redneck Bonanza", plus all the dinner rolls for every holiday since I've gotten it. It's made at least 500 loaves of bread and THOUSANDS of dinner rolls, cinnamon rolls, sandwich rolls. Dishesdone even sent me a book called Electric Bread and I made every single loaf in the book, starting at the front and working my way to the end. Oh yeah, I use it a lot and haven't found a single recipe or dough that it doesn't excel at, so I think of you often and I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. Elery says it is the one kitchen appliance that he knows we'd replace immediately if something happened to it. And the Princess? She weighs a red hot 42 pounds. Bruvver weighs 39 and he's two years younger. Just like me and Aunt Ashley, she's the smallest one in her class, but not the quietest. (grin) Now, just to keep from hi-jacking the thread, I made the paella salad last weekend when Elery was here. Yes, I have a picture, I'll post it tonight. We both loved it, and leftovers went to Amanda, the only other person in the family that eats shrimp. She loved it too. Annie

Ugh. No. I would have mentioned it to the waitress. They may have someone new working in the kitchen who did not understand the instructions. That happens sometimes. I work in the restaurant industry. Believe me, one has to give every single detail when training and instructing kitchen staff. Often times the dishes being made are things that they never grew up eating, and even the fruits and veggies used, are things that they may have never ever seen before. Funny: A worker made a batch of strawberry glaze and neglected to pull off the little green leaves from the strawberries. True. I know some people NEVER eat the chicken skin. I actually like it crispy on BBQ chicken but in a salad - No.

Our family had an old favorite from the 1950's or '60's. We called it green mold. It was a coleslaw with lemon and lime Jell-o to mold it. The Jell-o made it sweet, like the ones with pineapple or whatnot, but it was really good (at least to me, who grew up on it). It was tortured for many years to make it more diet friendly. It had artificial sweetener, lowfat or fat free "mayonnaise", and all the possible substitutions of yoghurt, etc. I won't list all the ways that it was disappointing, but I did lose my taste for it. I found the recipe and made it once (that's how I know that those who didn't grow up on it don't get the appeal). I followed the recipe, as stated, with all the mayonnaise, etc. It was delicious! It was delicious before the Jell-o was added, and that was really just enough to mold it and add that hint of sweet. You couldn't "see" the Jell-o (which you could once it got tinkered with). Do yourself a favor. Make it the right way, or make a different salad.
