Meds and Weight Gain

I have a question, and need help with minimizing weightgain in the mid-section.

I'm on diabetes meds - januvia, which is supposed to be better with the weight gain situation. What I've found is that I'm picking up a real "tire" around my mid-section. Yep, I'm already overweight, but I've never had this problem before. My weight is mostly hips and below. Since starting meds - a year ago, I can't stop the tire syndrome. I know it's the meds, because I've actualy stopped taking them, and it goes away. As soon as I start taking them again, it comes back after 2 days!!! Anyone else have that problem, and if so, any ideas? I know exercise can help, but last year when I was walking like crazy, it helped everywhere - even lower abdominal, except the tire space above my waist. When I mentioned it to my Dr, she was surprised to hear that. But I know it's not my imagination. Really struggling because it gets to be uncomfortable, and I stop the meds because of it.
