Have you planned your Easter menu? I am still working on mine. Here is what I have so far.

Ham

Fried Chicken

Buffet Potatoes

Baked Beans

Green Beans

Buttered Corn

Pineapple Casserole

Deviled Eggs

Pickled Eggs

Cole Slaw

Salad of some Kind

Yeast Rolls

Angel Food Cake

Chocolate Brownies

Some kind of pie

The Girls will bring to add to it and they also may choose something I have already put on my menu and that is great. I am sure I will be adding something else to it as time goes by.

Those of you that are having an Easter meal, do you know what you are fixing?

No, i hadn't thought about it yet. I'll probably plan the last week before Easter (April 4) when I see what specials the stores have. Your menu sounds delicious. I'm planning for just the fouR of us,_me,DH, and two daughters who won't eat red meat. they make it a little tough. Need to plan at least one vegetarian dish.

I like the "suggestion" of a path. I have a flat stepping stone at the edge of two sides of the border where I enter. Then just an occasional one, because I don't want to visually divide up the large bed with an obvious path. It seems to me if its primarily the gardener who's going into the bed, and its purpose is functional and not a main path- which you'd want aesthetically pleasing- you don't need a continuous stone path. Or in fact, any stones if you know where you're going and maybe rake the path a bit. I also have an occasional flat stone in other areas I need to get to. I'd like to put in a word for some unobtrusive, stone native to your area. Here in NE slate just doesn't look right. I recycled some from a project, and it's perfectly sooth somewhat shiny surface doesn't blend in. I also make the top of the stone level with the soil or mulch. I'd rather sweep it occasionally than trip on it! Marie

My answer is: nothing. I love designing spaces, and I would want very much to start with a blank slate wherever I go. Oh, I may take a few seeds from plants that are good all-around fillers, but I would really want to design from the bare ground up. An arresting conversation. I've been thinking along these lines for a year or so now, without really realizing I was doing so. My DH has been muttering for years upon years that we should finish up the house (it's been in a continuous state of remodel for.e.ver) and sell it. I've been constantly expanding the garden, not really concentrating on the idea of leaving until about a year ago when, all of a sudden, he started actually doing the things that needed to be done to get us out of here. I figure we have about 1 1/2 years of work left to do on the interior, then it's on to other pastures. I continue to plant, transplant, sow, etc., but I didn't realize until today, while reading this thread, that a lot of my recent planting decisions have been centered around ease of maintenance and creating more of an "outdoor room." I've never really cared about ease of maintenance before, and I know for a fact that the "outdoor room" concept comes directly from home improvement television shows, and is almost entirely to do with increasing perceived value. There are a lot of reasons why a person would have to be a gardener to really want our home (no grass anywhere, for one), and an avid gardener with an appreciation for the offbeat, at that. I guess I've been thinking that if we can sell the garden as an extension of the living space, rather than something for the neighbors to look at, we might have a better shot at non-avid-gardeners without ripping out half of what I've done and sowing grass seed. Of course, I'm an avid gardener and I wouldn't want to move into a home with an already-established garden. Lots to think about.

Glenn I have a Tropical Beauty I put in end of last March early April so this will be my second peach tree.. Rhonda I work on my property 5-6 days a week most of the day so time is no issue. Here is a list of what we planted in 2016 starting end of March early April. I cut down many large oaks, cut them up and woodchipped the brush. I moved over 300 yards of topsoil and compost by wheelbarrow and shovel that I brought in. I put in 9 12x4x 12 inch raised beds which I am moving now unfortunately because of bad planning. That was the hard work for 2016 now the fun part was planting. Keitt mango, Kent Mango, lost a rosigold mango to disease, Glenn mango, Valencia Pride mango, Altaufo mango From seed, Coconut Cream mango, bacon avocado, mexicola avocado, lost a Florida Hass to disease, Mauritius lychee, lost a sweetheart lychee from stupidity on my part trying to prune severely to a "better shape", Kari starfruit which I dug back up as it had a bad canker disease so I pruned it and potted it to nurse it bac, meanwhile I bought new Kari and planted it, kohola longan, Ruby red grapefruit, navel orange, Meyer lemon, pineapple orange, pink guava but unsure on cultivar, tropic beauty peach, saijo persimmon, 2 brown turkey figs, Jamaican cherry aka strawberry tree according to Floridians, mulberry but unsure of kind, two papaya from seed, 4 red lady papaya from seed, dwarf Cavendish banana, ice cream banana, white flesh dragon fruit and red flesh dragon fruit but unsure on cultivars, and 6 moringa which I took down recently because they had bad flood damage because I put them in a bad spot... Before this I grew one garden when I lived in Michigan so this was a year of serious learning. I have 3 YouTube videos which show what we done unfortunately I started the videos in August instead of February when the work began cutting oaks down. May all be blessed in their projects...

She is shipping from Bloomington IN. Right now it is miserably cold - but between now and then - there will be a window of shipping opportunity. Otherwise - it is a hybrid by Belinda Thibodeaux from LA. She also sells on ebay - and she has her own Facebook page where you can contact her. I do not think she ships in winter. But I am sure she will have starters for sale in spring. The description for Cajun's Ethereal Fairy says - wavy leaves. I tried several Cajun's - they are not hard to grow - but it is not easy to grow a nice flat rosette if it has wavy fleshy leaves. You need to pay attention to it, repot and turn frequently - and make sure that it doesn't touch anything else - otherwise leaves will grow like a propeller. Peppermint Girl is a mini. It is a hybrid by Hortense Pittman - and her plants are usually easy and rewarding to grow. But - being a mini and a girl it presents you with the specific challenges All girl leaf AVs grow slowly. Miniatures want to be closer to the light and they like to be repotted every 4 months Good Luck Irina

I think you all should be here around 1:30 on Sunday, so I will have time to put out all the extra plates and chairs. I have plenty of tables, chairs and stuff so don't worry. Now this is a pitch in so each of you let me know what dish you might like to bring? I will be watching to see what you post.

My Japanese friend was here for several weeks visiting her son, who is my hubby's hunting and fishing buddy. She taught me how to make sushi (California rolls) and tempura and introduced me to a mail-order oriental food store in Atlanta. Oh yum in the tum!

I'm making a Southern US-Japanese-English dinner with veggie (including asparagus and eggplant) and shrimp (the huge ones) tempura, miso soup, sushi (with crab meat), and thinly sliced lamb tempura.

Dinner will begin with broiled shrimp cocktails served in the lovely vintage stemmed glasses I found at a thrift store last week. The bottom glass has an etched pattern; it holds chipped ice. The round insert bowl holds the sauce and the shrimp hang over the edge. They are so cute.

My friends all have adventurous taste buds. They'll need them this day!

Desert will be a home made lemon pie.
