Oh MY Gosh!!! I just moved all that heavy stuff by myself. Now that it's done I don't really like it this way but I know one thing..... I'M DEAD!!!!....And the arrangement will have to stay that way until I can get DH to help me move it again. Note to self...."DARN! this is the way he wanted it to begin with instead of buying more furniture!". Oh my.............. Valinsv, I agree the browns are becoming overpowering. I really didn't want leather to begin with but once we started looking I liked the individual pieces. Now my whole house is brown! LOL I put the 2 rockers by the window. I think it look very nice and I do like the idea of a round table at that window instead of the square one. Based on the TV's location I don't think facing the couches together would work. Plus we would loose the outside view from both couches that way. Though I agree it is a nice look. caroleoh, Now that I've moved everything (Oh my, ouch, what did I do?) I agree the rug looks better diagonally. It seems to help focus the room with it placed in direction with the wood planks. If however, I move the rug back to diagonal then the couches will pivot slightly and totally block the room off from the front door. It will also move the couch a bit closer to the woodstove than I would like it to be. I actually was hoping to see a big square ottoman from this thread. I tend to stay away from the southwest cowboy or indian influenced furniture. The floor lamp might work in my library/office. View from upstairs...... View from front door doesn't look to inviting to me. And, if I pivot the rug back to diagonal then the couch will move closer to the fireplace blocking the room off......

Over Christmas, I put garlands of fake poinsettia on the crown moulding...purchased them at Michael's. I've been looking for something I like for spring, but didn't find any earlier in March and haven't looked recently. I don't have much clearance above the cabinets for anything more....8-foot ceiling. My SIL has some pretty bottles and decorated watering cans above her cabinets, with the floral garland that changes depending on the season. But she has a 9-foot ceiling. Wish I could show you photos - unfortunately, the computer with PS Elements and the digital photos is down-for-the-count. That's where the photos of SIL's kitchen are. Annie, your library is amazing and beautiful!! What a lovely room. My mom and dad read the newspaper, but an aunt gave me one of those Golden Books on the Arctic Tundra for Christmas when I was pretty young. I loved having a book of my own and I always loved reading. These days my books are also on my Kindle though I confess I spend more time on the internet instead of reading. Of course I am reading but nothing worth remembering. :) Because I was 37 when I started college, I do have all my school books and they are in a little shelving nook up on the second floor. I treasure them and my time in school. My picture is of the visitor my next door neighbor had last night. That was one big toad and he was so neat to see. We don't have a lot of them around, so it was a real treat to see this guy.

@barncatz.....I got yelled at for using orange peel sprayed-on texture instead of skip-trowel on a basement I'd volunteered to finish....free of charge. What YOU used is called skip-trowel. The lady said she hated orange peel texture and she'd had it ALL removed & skip trowel put in. To this day she hates me...over my choice of wall texture. :0)
