These sunflowers were around 12 feet tall. Yesterday we had a quick violent storm that knocked them down. I’ve never seen such wind,!

Mom read to us, I read to my kids. I have a pic somewhere of me reading to my grands.

Kindle is my library now. I can read in bed and not keep my husband awake. I can carry 100 books around with me. I can adjust brightness and text size. I can still borrow books from the library. I love it.

I was never much of a reader. Maybe when I retire. On the opposite end of the spectrum is my DS who began reading when he was 2 1/2. Now 33, he still doesn't go anywhere without a book in hand.

Just purchased these daylilies

What used to be an avid reading habit has taken a back seat to making jewelry and spending time on the internet. This is a photo of a display at a children's museum in Poland:

This sculpture of a little girl reading was taken at a cemetery and I thought it was sweet. The grave was not a child's grave; otherwise I would have found it terribly sad:

skibby, maybe for show only. I have no need for bookends--there is not sufficient space on any of my bookshelves to need a gap holder. Even though I have a ton of books, they aren't housed in a display worthy of a photo.

Another Kindle fan here and I usually have my iPad in my purse so that I can start reading whenever the opportunity arises. I would rather hold a physical book but I like the options that the reading app provides - having hundreds of books at my fingertip or switching books on a whim. I find it a little ironic that as a former librarian I no longer have a library in my home. I don't miss the physical books but I do miss the ambience and coziness of a library. If we had a different floorplan I would sacrifice my dining room to a library and outfit it with a small round table (with leaves of course!!).

So my photo today is my DDIL's lemon curd on meringue clouds that she brought to dinner last night.

Joanmn - they were very good, lemony tart of course but combined with the slight crunch of the meringue they were quite tasty. Since taking maternity leave DDIL has become a big fan of the Great British Baking Show.

My mom and dad read the newspaper, but an aunt gave me one of those Golden Books on the Arctic Tundra for Christmas when I was pretty young. I loved having a book of my own and I always loved reading. These days my books are also on my Kindle though I confess I spend more time on the internet instead of reading. Of course I am reading but nothing worth remembering. :)

Because I was 37 when I started college, I do have all my school books and they are in a little shelving nook up on the second floor. I treasure them and my time in school.

My picture is of the visitor my next door neighbor had last night. That was one big toad and he was so neat to see. We don't have a lot of them around, so it was a real treat to see this guy.

This is part of our library in our lower level. I need to take up the carpeting and put down stone or tile with underfloor heating and area rugs rather than the wall-to-wall which the pups have ruined!

I do love books, but look! She's back! The Diva said she had diamond galore!!! She loves it
