I love your windows and that view is wonderful. My ottomans are plain leather, nothing special and probably not appropriate for your room.

I hope you don't mind that I comment on the fact that when you have a large room like yours, you need to have more than one furniture grouping. I know you spread your furniture out to fill the spaces, but it's better to pull those couches and chairs in closer so people don't have to shout across the chasm. In the corner where you have the love seat, I think some kind of lounge chaise would be perfect, with a reading lamp, tossed throw across the seat and a small table to turn that spot into a reading/relaxing and looking at the view spot. the reason I suggest a lounge chair is it would be best to have something without high backs like a couch which blocks that view.

BTW is that a cute dachound decorating the carpet? Love your ride trike and I can't imagine a rooster that size.

I understand what you're saying about groupings. Actually when we were designing I thought I could do what you mentioned but now not sure how to do it. The room is kind of cocky in that nothing is straight. The walls go in one direction, the wood flooring goes in another.
This is the room where we watch TV. But you can't sit on that window couch and see the television. I could put the 2 rockers there with a lamp table but I prefer rocking while watching TV. At Christmas we had the two couches together but when I walked in the front door I felt like everything was shoved to that side of the room. If I put the couch on the opposite side facing the windows anyone coming in to my home will be greeted by the back of a couch which doesn't seem to inviting.
Here is a better view of the room from upstairs. Oh, and yes! that is a mini longhair doxy.

Couches together at Christmas....

Your furniture is lovely, though I do think you are on the right track trying to lighten up on all the browns. Personally I like it when two couches face each other with a coffee table in between. With a room of your size you could add an arm chair with ottoman as well. Since I seem to recall you have a TV, fireplace and wonderful views I'd try to keep these in mind when forming your seating group. In addition to that I'd suggest a couple of arm chairs and round table in front of the window where you have your sofa now. Then add some decorative pillows and a throw or two to bring in more color--use the colors of nature for inspiration since the outdoors is really a part of your decor.

I like the way you have your couches in the Christmas photo. With your floor running diagonally, it looks just natural to have the couches postioned diagonally like that in the room. Plus it's great viewing of the TV and warmth from the stove.

I'd put a large floor plant in the corner behind the sofa - where you have the one rocker and floor lamp. I'd put for now the two rockers in the area in front of the windows with a table between. You might need two more substantial chairs there, but they're cool and I like the upholstery on them! I think I'd find another home for the floor lamp. It doesn't go with your furnishings - just my opinion...

Have you thought about a square ottoman in a bright southwestern print - it would go well with your rug and would give you some color.

Oh MY Gosh!!! I just moved all that heavy stuff by myself. Now that it's done I don't really like it this way but I know one thing..... I'M DEAD!!!!....And the arrangement will have to stay that way until I can get DH to help me move it again.
Note to self...."DARN! this is the way he wanted it to begin with instead of buying more furniture!".

I agree the browns are becoming overpowering. I really didn't want leather to begin with but once we started looking I liked the individual pieces. Now my whole house is brown! LOL
I put the 2 rockers by the window. I think it look very nice and I do like the idea of a round table at that window instead of the square one.
Based on the TV's location I don't think facing the couches together would work. Plus we would loose the outside view from both couches that way. Though I agree it is a nice look.

Now that I've moved everything (Oh my, ouch, what did I do?) I agree the rug looks better diagonally. It seems to help focus the room with it placed in direction with the wood planks. If however, I move the rug back to diagonal then the couches will pivot slightly and totally block the room off from the front door. It will also move the couch a bit closer to the woodstove than I would like it to be.

I actually was hoping to see a big square ottoman from this thread. I tend to stay away from the southwest cowboy or indian influenced furniture.
The floor lamp might work in my library/office.

View from front door doesn't look to inviting to me. And, if I pivot the rug back to diagonal then the couch will move closer to the fireplace blocking the room off......

OK, I feel bad because you did all that moving, and it wasn't quite what I was talking about! In the arial photo posted at 15:42, you have the rug square, and the couch closest to the front door at an angle to the TV. I just wanted you to move the sofa under the window to be at a right angle to that couch.

I can't describe it, so I tried to show it! White squares are about where I picture the two rockers.
