should my faucet match my sink or hardware?

I have refinished the walnut cabinets in my kitchen and replaced the hardware with antique bronze. The new countertops will be antique gold granite. The cooktop and sink are brushed stainless. The remainder of the appliances are black. Should the faucet also be antique bronze to match the hardware or brushed stainless to match the sink? Does anyone have any pictures of a faucet that doesn't match their sink that they could please post.

I like mixing it up. I used brushed nickel with my copper sink.

My sink and appliances are stainless. My cabinet hardware is aged pewter--not too silver, not too gold. My faucet is brushed nickel. I found that the stainless faucets are more contemporary than I wanted. Also, stainless has a blue cast that is visually cold, while nickel has a yellow cast that is visually warmer. So you may want to do more investigating about the style of faucet you want, which could dictate the color. No photos yet--demo begins soon.

I matched the faucet to the cabinet hardware. All my appliances and the sink are SS, but I didn't want a SS faucet. The mixed metals don't bother me at all.

Either same faucet different finishes (I'd never have answered that was if I'd not have seen the lovely kitchen above) or same finish, no need to match. What would look bad would be two different finishes and styles in the same kitchen. My faucets (I have three) are all different, all within six feet of each other...and the only thing they have in common is the same finish. They look great and each functions as it should for the area it serves.

Satin nickel would be fine with the stainless sink. Chrome (my personal preference) would work just as well. Black for cabinet pulls and knobs will relate nicely to the black counters. It is not too small. If you want the spout closer to you, as Fori said you need a longer spout. Those kinds of faucets with a long spout "reach" are called "pull-out faucets" (you have a "pull-down" faucet which has a higher arch and a shorter reach). Many websites selling faucets allow you to sort for spout reach length. If you decide to switch to a pull-out faucet, just make sure the handle is on the side, not on the top. Many pull-out faucets have the handle on the top, and you do not want that. Here are a couple of examples of pull-out faucets, but there are hundreds more; these just came up easily in my google search because they are popular models. Not a necessity but personally prefer either all shiny or all muted/flat sheen fixtures -- or a totally different color/material such black or white metal knobs and pulls or ceramic or porcelain knobs and pulls -- you could use handles for both drawers and doors. https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/richelieu-hollywood-style-pull/3240879?categoryId=14973 Strongly recommend stainless steel hinges and knobs for a bathroom door. In my experience, other hinges and door knobs can discolor over time, perhaps from the moisture.

I have ORB appliances, a darker ORB hardware, and a silgranite in cafe brown. But I have SS appliances.

Brushed nickel is one of those finishes that just kinda disappears, regardless of the room it's in.

Think of all the white sinks out there... and the relatively few white faucets.

Thanks for your input. I decided on the brushed nickel grohe pull down. I saw the faucet in a display and it didnt match the hardware and looked fine. That faucet is a work of art.

Good! I like the idea of the faucet matching the sink. This looks better and it is not necessary to match the cabinet hardware.
