I have a transparent plexiglass one which I use only on my computer room desk for holding books while I type out a recipe or other notes.

If I want to use a recipe, I scan it, print it out and tape it to the kitchen cupboard door at eye level above where I'll be preparing the food.

I now have a great pile of printed out recipes with bits of sticky tape attached to the corners LOL.

My kitchen has too little counter space to put the recipe book holder beside where I'm working.

I have one, and no, I never use it. I never think to get it out.

Yes, I have a plexiglass one I use often to hold a book open and propped. Thankfully most new cookbook publishers print the whole recipe on one spread. My older cookbooks run to the next page so the most used recipes are speckled and messy. I keep my holder with other odd shaped bulky things like the pasta drying rack. An upper cupboard. If I am doing a lot of cooking for a few days, it's stays on my counter. I also use it with a small cutting board tucked inside to prop up printed recipes from my desktop.

Nope, I've never had one and don't know where the heck I'd keep it if I did!

Heck, I hardly ever use a cook book!
Almost all the recipes I use are in a file on my computer, which is in my kitchen....and if I can't read the recipe and remember, I will print it out....but almost always I read it once and remember what to do.
No cook book holder here.

Sharon, that's a great idea, to use it for help in typing recipes. I don't usually type them until they're tested, and I know they deserve a permanent place in my files. You can be sure I'll use the help it offers now!

barnmom, I'm glad to hear from someone who actually uses one. I can see this would take up serious space if it's not being used, but in ''cooking mode'' I understand the appeal of leaving it out.

I've never actually ''needed'' one, but I was looking at all my cookbooks feeling like there had to be an easier way to use them than my current system. (I tend to walk back and forth, back and forth, using many steps trying to keep my books clean by keeping them at one end of the kitchen, while I cook somewhere else.) I bought the books because they all had recipes I wanted to try. Hopefully, having a protected place to prop them will inspire me to start using them more. I've been sticking my printed recipes to the knife block with a magnet so they're more vertical and easy to read, and I realized I really like having the recipe available where I'm cooking.

Then again, some days it's just easier to come here and let you all inspire me instead!

I often don't use a cookbook except for baking and unfamiliar or technically challenging recipes. I do like the way it keeps the book both clean and propped at an angle to read. And it is useful for propping up loose sheets.

When I had our old house on the market and I had to spiff up the kitchen every morning in case the realtor had to show it, I would put a pretty picture cookbook in it on the counter. (See, you can make all this lovely food in this kitchen with the postage stamp counter space, really!) LOL!

Nah, but I try to use the "least sticky finger". Ha ha.
My recipes books are well-loved. Many automatically flip open to my favorite recipe.

I really dislike hardbound cookbooks that don't stay open.
I have a three ring binder with tried and true recipes and I set it on top of my toaster when I need it....

I've had a few different ones over the years and I currently have a plexiglass one. Hands down, it's the best I've used. It doesn't take up much space, is easy to wipe down, and keeps the pages clean. I'd get another in a heartbeat.

Nope, I don't mind dirty pages..means I've used that recipe. LOL

LOL Terri ... sounds like my books. I use a kitchen drawer :) Props it up perfectly ... no way can I remember the exact recipe for the numerous cakes, breads etc. I bake during the year.

No book holder here, I would never remember to use it anyhow.

I prop up recipes or books in the fruit bowl that sits on island...LOL! You can manipulate the apples, oranges or bananas just so and you can get just about any angle to hold a book or a typed page. But when there's no fruit, I just get the potatoes out and this works.

I use a geode or a granite rock I "grew" in the garden to hold cookbooks open.

I have a plexiglass holder that's currently holding up a cutting board in a bottom cabinet. I pull it out around the holidays if I'm going to do a lot of cooking, but otherwise, I have a habit of putting my cookbook on the dining room table, or on a faraway counter and constantly walking over to it. Come to think of it, I don't know why I do that! Maybe I think I'm walking off enough calories to compensate for whatever I'm making!
