I thought I could weed some of mine out too....but as soon as I started looking through them again, back on the shelf they went!!

Yep, I've got the same problem. I'm sure I could part with some but it would be hard. It's a form of hoarding I suppose - I think they all have potential to be used someday although realistically I can't use them all.

I used to, but when we sold our last house and had a garage sale, I got rid of a bunch of them. Probably 100 if you count those little paperback ones. I still have two shelves in my bookcase full, but I don't use them much since I have the computer. Like you, I do have some I just can't part with. Mainly, those organization/church cookbooks and my Southern Living collection. I have volumes 1979 through 2002 and an index that covers them all. Fun to see how tastes and ways of eating have changed since 1979. Oh--and my Joy of Cooking from the '70's and the Good Housekeeping Illustrated Cookbook. Just love those two.

I could not get rid of any of mine even the paper back ones. Some are very old some are not but I have them all for a specific reason and many were gifted to me so they will stay with me.I am very selective now however in what I buy.

Yes,I am a cookbook collector/hoarder and have been for many years. I go through every couple of years and get rid of some, but I still have hundreds, plus a box full of printed recipes from the computer. Someday, I will have to deal with all of it, but I haven't reached that stage! LOL

I confess. I am a cookbook hoarder. I don't know anyone personally who has more than I do, but Paula, you are the winner! Like some of you, every once in a while I try to thin them out, but it is very difficult. A couple of years ago we had a garage sale and I put several boxes of them out for sale and every time someone bought one I felt a pang of regret, LOL.

I do find myself referring to fewer of them since I have started scanning my favorites and saving them that way. I think I could now really get rid of at least a few of them.

I have gotten rid of many of mine as I just don't do much cooking anymore except simple meals. I do research on line, on Food Network, etc. Do have some smaller phamplets that has good tips etc. Still have more to get rid of. And also Food Network magazine.

One of these days I intend to toss all but maybe 1-2. I never use any of them anyway. One that I'll keep is a breadmaking recipe book from the 70s that my sister and I both used quite a bit.

Only one cookbook, an old Betty Crocker one that is falling apart at the seams. I do have over 800 pages of recipes from the internet though. LOL

Another cookbook hoarder here, love reading them. I've taken over 50 to my thrift shop to sell, but they don't seem to sell very fast around here. I probably have another 100 here at the house.

I don't collect them per se, but I like reading community cookbooks, family cookbooks and the like. Yes you'll see 280 Tater Tot Hotdish, "secret" ketchup & Coke "BBQ" sauce and onion soup dip recipes but there's usually something different in there. I started taking the interesting ones and put together in a document.

I did a small cookbook for family & friends and it was quite popular. Printed it myself. I also contributed to a fund-raiser cookbook and it was pretty good too if I do say so myself but we had a cookbook publisher do those. We avoided the overly common stuff and added in things like conversions, substitutions and the like. Those are the ones I like most.

I grew up having it pounded into my head to respect books so it's hard to tear out pages or write in them! So it's copy them and write on the printouts.

I'm not in Paula's class, but I have a lot. I've sold many books, but not any cookbooks that I can recall. They have too many memories tied up in them!

I sold one of my paperback cookbooks on Amazon last year. I bought it in 1985 for around $3.95 and sold it on Amazon for $10. Before I moved from CA to Iowa I gave some cookbooks to Goodwill.

I collect cook book and cooking magazines. I have a shelf dedicated to my cookbooks in a bookcase in my living room and I have a red bin in the kitchen for the newest cookbooks and magazines. I usually don't follow recipes except for baking but I do get many ideas and tips from them. The magazines are the floor of a closet. My favourite cookbook is my Mom's old Five Roses Cookbook. I always pull it out when I make pancakes (should have memorized it by now)LOL This is the same cookbook that I cut up for a grade school project LOL my Mom was so mad at me. There was a page of cuts of meat and I cut out each individual piece of meat for the project LOL. I love cookbooks that churches and groups put out for fundraisers. They always have little stories in them. I also have a cookbook from the 1800's that was my Great Grandmother's but the pages are crumbling so don't often look at it but it is cool to have. Love the recipes on how to cure what ever ailment you could think of during that time period. I have gotten some wonderful cookbooks from friends at GW during swaps here and from the Cooking Forum

can't seem to give any up, plus the ones i scammed from fil's when we were helping him couple of months ago...one dd said no thanks as she uses the computer but it's not the same! there is nothing like having the real deal propped in front of you making christmas cookies...and i don't bake anymore...lol...

I love each and every cookbook I owe and I own over 200. I can't get rid of them and they have their very own antique bookcase to house them. They are very happy there and I visit them all the time.

I don't know if I was a collector or hoarder (lol), but I had over 1,000 total cookbooks sold at auction in Michigan when we were moving to Florida. I hated to part with most of them!

I have shelves and shelves of cookbooks in my kitchen, displayed behind my leaded glass cabinets. There's almost no room for my dishes, bowls, glasses, etc. lol Can't say that I have a favorite, but I do like the name of the "I Hate to Cook Book", and I have "Alice's Restaurant" cookbook. Especially like the ones with pictures, that show what something is supposed to look like when you're done. lol
