Have you asked at the fabric store? At the hardware store? At the craft store? Or just use a latex paint.

Thanks Ann and KSWL. Lishaana, I had the very same experience. I think, if i recall, BJ replacement cushions were 5 or 6k. Worse yet, the choices were uninspired. I thought the labor charges were very reasonable. I go to an upholsterer I found directly. They charged $55 per cushion (the sizes aren't that different so it didn't matter). The fabric was $130 yard, which is high but I was looking for something very specific and just had to buck up. I think we used 15 yards. I can't find the receipt but I think all told, fabric and labor, it was about $2500. If you are lucky enough to like a more reasonable fabric, you can probably do it nicely for 2ish?

Thanks lindasewandsew (Love the name, by the way;) Yes, I'm in Tucson so thanks for the list -- There are a couple of shops on there that I'd forgotten all about so I'll check them out. I really think my problem is that I'm being too darned picky. Ever get an idea of what you want, how little you're willing to pay (especially for something temporary) and then have that "Duh" moment where you realise that it doesn't exist at that price? I should know better -- I sew for a living and shake my head all the time when my customers do that, lol!

Luvs~ my mom has one of those swings too. This year it is starting to rip a little so I'm sure we'll be in the need of replacement seats soon too. I was thinking of taking the material off completely and doing a weave with some of that nylon yarn. You know the thick stuff they used to use in macrame? My friend used to take apart lawn chairs and weave it into patterns like football logos and things like that (like the ones in the link below). I won't be able to do anything like that, but I may try to give the woven backs a try as an alternative to throwing away the swing.
