yes, but took them off 2 days ago. i do my own and save tons of money. i finally found a type of glue that actually works. i dont do it often but sometimes just want that nice look. they are a pain though when you need to sip youre jeans lol

No. I have done it in past for special occasions because I have very soft nails, but it's a pain.

Heck, no. I have very strong fingernails, and could grow them an inch long, if I wanted to...I did in high school! But, I handle a lot of dirty stuff in a day's time, and I keep them cut off at fingertip level. I just cut them with scissors or with some little needle nose things I got at the dollar store that are sold as pruners for plants. ;)

I have very thin, soft nails...so i've been getting an acrylic gel overlay applied over my natural nails and bonded via ultraviolet light, for the past 8 years, with a permanent french nail.
No plastic fake nails, no glue.
It's been so nice having strong nails, but they do need trips to the salon every other week.

I can hardly stand the weight of nail polish on my nails much less fake nails or tips.

One of my nail is split down the middle - Thus I have worn acrylics for 15 years... Nothing long but I have the white tips...

I've never had fake nails.

My nails have always been strong, so I never needed false, acrylic or gels. But I have had manicures for the past 20 years, used to have them weekly but now it is monthly due to time constraints. The gal I go to does not do any of the false nails.

Grandma Bonnie, one of my nails has begun to do that as well, by chance do you have arthritis?

I tried fake nails for a short period. Frankly, I've never seen any fake nails that weren't obviously fake.

Shoot no--mine are so strong and grow so fast it's hard to keep them trimmed and filed. And like Wildchild, I think the weight would bother me a lot.

I can't stand the feeling of fakes, acrylics, wraps. I have my own natural nails. I get a manicure every single week. About half the time I skip polish entirely. I use a good hand cream several times a day-I feel it nurishes my cuticles and nails.

I have horrible nails. They peel and break.

I don't think I could leave fake nails alone. I would probably pick at them. I KNOW I would have them broke off in a short amount of time anyway. My lifestyle would work with them :)

Some look nice, and some just make me shudder.

I wore them for about 15 years and now wish I never had. I stopped wearing them about 3 years ago. It took almost two years for them to thicken back up, but its the permanent ridges and verticle cracks that won't heal or go away.

Like wildchild, I can't stand the feeling and weight of nail polish on my nails. They feel like they're being smothered. I'm also very hard on my hands, doing many renovation and home improvement projects at home. Anything false is just too high-maintenance for me.

With age, my nails were splitting and tearing, so I went with acrylic nails several years ago and I love them. No more snagging on clothing. Get a fill in about once a month as my own nails grow. I get lots of comments on how nice my nails look.

I have in the past.Always did them myself because I hated the thick look of all I had seen done in salons.People always complimented how nice mine looked and thought they were my "real" nails.LOL Up until I was in my late 50's my own nails were thick and strong then they started breaking and peeling and I could never get them to grow.That is why I wore the fake ones.I don't do them now mainly because they are a pain and take too much time and maintenence.
Lynn- Does arthritis have something to do with the splitting? I have a thumbnail that has a split and I do have arthritis in that thumb joint.But I have it in the other one too and it is fine.My mother had a thumbnail that did the same thing but she was a seamstress and did a lot of crafting that involved using that thumb a lot,as do I,so we just attributed the split to that.She also had arthritis.

No fake nails here either. I have strong nails. I like long nails, always had them, I can't function when I have a short one. I do wear polish but in the planting season with all the dirt work, I try to keep them bare...easier to clean after playing in the dirt!

Had them one time only and within a couple days broke 2 of them washing my car.Took the rest off and never did it again.My nails are strong,but i don't let them grow out to long,like another poster,i like to play in the dirt too much.

Lynn - I had a steel door close on that fingernail about 25 years ago and it has been split ever since - I crochet and work with fabric and got tired of snagging everything so I started acrylics and never regretted it - ever - My nails are underneath - the acrylics make them stronger...

I had acrylics for a couple of months at one time. I worked in a hospital at the time and then they would not allow anyone who had direct contact with patients to have acrylics because you can get fungal infections under the acrylic. I have very strong nails and sometimes grow them out and get a mani for a special occasion. Usually, I keep my nails very short and unpolished. Between housework and home projects long nails are a PITA for me.
