Last Saturday my Bride and I went to a hair salon that features wigs, hats, scarfs, etc for those battling the cancer. It was a great thing to do. Her spirits were not doing well due to the radiation side efeects including the hair loss. They set her up a great wig along with some hats and scarfs. Her heart is feeling much better now and her smile is coming back. It brought me to tears to see her happy. This Friday we travel to the U of Minnesota to meet with her oncologist to set up her surgery.

Merry Chrismas, Happy Holidays, Kwanza, Hanukkah, Festivus, etc...

Happy to hear she's happy!! Wish nobody has to be going through this during the holidays, but glad she has a smile. Er--what happened to your pants??

It's to dang cold to be running around without your pants.
I'm glad her spirits have picked up. Good luck with the oncologist Friday.

Let me tell you...even without the chemo and other treatments...Just going through the hysterectomy take a long time of being tired. When I had mine I had no pain fron it whatsoever. Had it on a Tues. came home on Wed. and went to the auction on Saturday... But everything I did...required a nap afterwards...for nearly 6 months. The being tired is common...eventually that will go away. One less thing to worry about. I believe there is a bright future for her... Hugs.. patti

Great news! Praying that the other sessions will be tolerated as well! woo hoo! As she progresses with the treatments, the side effects will possibly get a little tougher each time. Make sure you have the anti nausea pills on hand and anything else thta may help her. It doesn't always happen, and I don't know what "cocktail" she is taking, but just wanted you to be aware... I'm sure the Doc went over all of that with you anyway...

I didn;t know they had a hair salon for that, what a wonderful idea! I wish more places were like that.

Is this salon only for cancer patients?

Our cancer center works with different salons for that purpose. They also give free hats to all patients who want them When DH lost his hair due to cancer, at first was upset, but then realized he did not have to shave and it came back thicker and better looking. Good luck to her and the family. Stay strong.

She's been through so much. Glad to hear she has some joy. It can be a depressing time of year anyway. Directing all the joy your way I can!

Thank you for this wonderful update. This is not a very fun time for her but it sounds like the two of you are going through it, hand in hand. Keep up the good work and the updates.

I'm glad she is surviving all those "lovely" treatments. I had a great time getting my buzz cut before I lost my hair and being fitted with the wig. The hairdresser was a riot and we laughed a lot through it. I found the wig very itchy and only wore it out on special occasions. I didn't mind being bald but I have to tell you when my hair grew back in it was spectacular. The curls lasted only a short time but I really loved them and loved my chemo cut.

What I found I didn't like was missing my eyebrows and eyelashes as my eyes watered a lot not keeping out the dust. Sure didn't miss not having to shave the legs, the pits and pluck those chin hairs.

It's DF here. Radiation was a breeze until the last couple of treatments, then the side effects hit me like a freight train. They are easing off a bit so that helps a lot.

Dok is the sweetest most supportive hubby any girl could ask for, although we had a discussion about over-coddling!

Tomorrow's the pre-op and they'll hopefully give us a date for the surgery. Initially they wanted to do it on the 23rd, but I said no - a few days after Christmas will work just fine. Our last pre-op was supposed to be the 5th, so we showed up with our appointment card in hand, but oooops, the doctor forgot to let the front desk know so she wasn't available that day - GRrrrrr! (I'm not always such a patient patient, but didn't say too much, I hope!)
