It has kind of become tradition the past few years that Sophie read the Christmas story from the Bible before Christmas dinner and the Easter story before Easter dinner, so we'll do that too.

I think I've mentioned before that my Mexican Friend didn't know you boil Easter Eggs and color them. Her family always hollowed the eggs and stuffed them with confetti.

Yes,I do celebrate Easter. Even though there might be a certain amount of commercialization, as a practicing Catholic, I don't believe the true meaning of either Christmas or Easter could possibly be lost. Nobody forces me to buy into the commercialism of any holiday.

Ds#1 was born the day before Easter. Ds#2 was born on Palm Sunday. To me, it's a celebration of life. I have fun it.

I can "usually" even get my kids to church that day...okay even if it is to hear me play the bells at church, I'll take whatever I can get to get them to church!!! Our minister also sings one of the most beautiful songs "He's ALive" (His wife plays the piano, and each year he always has to wipe a tear away as he sings it he gets so emotional) ...Here's Dolly Parton's version...Our Pastor's version is nicer, I think.

Yes, we do. We celebrate the life and death of Jesus. We also celebrate the 'kids' holiday. I live hundreds of miles from my childhood church now, but up until 15 years ago we lived close and still attended church there. Easter Sunrise Service and the breakfast and fellowship following the service are some of my best church memories.

Man, I hope this isn't too controversial, but I do have an honest question, and it is not intended as a slam - I am just curious and want to learn. For those who aren't people of belief (in the Christian God/Jesus) but do celebrate Easter in some way, just what is it that you're celebrating?

Please don't anyone make this a debate. I'm just curious why those that don't believe in the true origin of Easter recognize it, or if it's to celebrate Spring, a good excuse for family to get together, another day to make fun things for the kids, etc.

Yes we do....Ricky's birthday happens to fall on Easter this year, we left the day up to him. Looks like we are celebrating in the park for that day! It'll be fun though....planning lot's of food, egg hunt and fun.

For me, it's a custom in America which a majority of people follow. Like Christmas, it is religious in base but traditions which have evolved around the religious holiday have become ecumenical in nature. ie: Christmas which is the day of celebrating the birth of Christ also has Santa Claus woven in in a very big way.

Easter, which represents the Resurrection also has the easter bunny woven in. Those of Christian based faith or those of other faiths (or those of no faith) can enjoy the non-religious aspects of these world holidays.

It's less of a "celebration" and more of an enjoyed holiday including it's traditions.

Kinda sorta. Only occationally go to church so although, I believe, we don't usually go to church and don't have a big dinner. I might buy the kids a little Easter candy now that they're older and last year Lauren wanted to color eggs. We may do it again this year. To tell you the truth I don't even know when Easter is this year.

I don't celebrate Easter at all anymore, but when I did, it was because my parents/in-laws celebrated the day. We didn't attend church together, we just had a family gathering. The holiday was just an excuse to get together. For a few years after we moved across the country from our families, I sent an Easter card to my MIL, but I stopped doing that, too. (As far as I know, she doesn't even go to church anymore. A card seemed frivilous.)

I have never made Easter dinner myself, don't have kids to take to an egg hunt or make up baskets for, and don't go to church. But I do eat jelly beans!
