One seems warmer (cozy), one seems cooler (peaceful), but they are both very light and I would be concerned how they would look with ivory furniture. Do they contrast without clashing? A warm light color I used in my Mom's apartment was Blond Wood. She was not wanting any color, but I didn't want her to have the cold white walls. THe color had to be bright enough to not obscure much light. Her apt doesn't have a lot of natural light. Blond Wood was perfect for both of us. She gets tons of compliments on it. It is dark enough that it would contrast well with ivory furniture but not too dark for light purposes. Definitely it is in the warm category vs. cool. I'm not a cool color person, so I can't help much on those.

I love greens, but with the red so hot in the bedding, I am not sure I would want green. The bedding is very pretty, by the way! I know this is going to seem bizarre, but have you considered an aqua, as we seem to see in the center of the pointy leaves in the closeup of the bedding? I think it might cool down the room, and would certainly show off the dark furniture as well. I think it would work with the Whole Wheat, tho I am kind of puzzled about the issue of working with it. At different times of the day, from different angles, in different light, those colors will never look the same, and at times will perhaps seem more suited than at others. But no one that I can think of would stand in the hallway and expect the bedroom to flow with a public space. That is part of the delight of bedrooms and baths - places to choose color and decor different from the public spaces, that are more personal and perhaps a little more daring. I think your bed looks pretty, but I would try to find a place to store your sleeping pillows during the day when the bed is made - they don't go with the look of the finished bed, and kind of spoil the view from the side. Maybe you can tuck them on the floor of the closet? Also wondering if the valances on the windows are on a separate rod, so that you could raise the valances up higher to open the window space and take the eye up above the top of the bedposts.

I have Prescott Green in my summer cottage kitchen. I remember being surprised at how 'blue' it was when it went up on the wall, but I like it now. In a bedroom? Not sure. I have also used Soft Fern in a few different rooms -- it's a very pretty color and, to me, quite different from Prescott Green although I haven't seen them side by side. I have Soft Fern in my basement playroom, I know someone who has it in her bedroom w/ dark cherry furniture, and I know someone else who has it in a casual dining room w/ light furniture. It looks great in all three spaces. I am a big fan of Soft Fern. I'm not familiar with Vale Mist. Best thing to do is get some large swatches on the wall or on some poster board, and see how the color looks at different times of day.

Les, You correctly point out that any color wood will stand out in a black and white scheme. That probably would have been a better question for me to ask: what kind of wood dresser would work best in this color scheme? I just don't know if I want a room full of painted furniture, although as I stated earlier, that seems to be what works best in the pictures I've seen. I like your idea of a chair with wood trim that would tie in with the color of the chest. I could do that, although it will mean hitting the stores again shopping for something suitable (never a hardship lol) instead of using what I have. I already have a small mid century white vinyl chair I was going to use in there. That was one thing I liked about this bedroom scheme. Aside from a chest of drawers or dresser, I pretty much had all the pieces I needed right there in my house, down to the black and white bedding. This chance to buy the H-W chest has thrown me and my bedroom scheme for a loop. :) You're probably also right that the style may not mesh with the more modern look of the color scheme. At least I think that's what you meant. I'm thinking with my heart and not my head right now, because I've always wanted to own some H-W furniture, so I'm trying to make it work somewhere it may not go.
