Blue... Blue... Blue... Help!
Comments (67)shhhh..I'm telling you, that midsummer night will work, and you will beyond love it. It will carry the chocolate brown/sea-like Yarmouth Blue combo into the bathroom. It is not a color to use on large wall area, but it IS THE Color to use on small wall areas. It has an effect of making windows and the views like paintings, gives a bathroom a rich warmth, luxurious surround in which to, say, bathe with candlesâ¦. My broker asked me to take a look at her kitchen as they wanted to paint the end third of it. She had in mind a neutral taupe or beige. I went over to take a look, and immediately saw a chocolate brown. Two thirds of their kitchen is entirely made up of - yes - medium brown cabinetry and the appliances virtually NO wall area But the back third is made up of large windows and a French door to the patior, overlooking a golf course, and then winds around to a rear door and entryway. They have a dining table in the window at the end of the kitchen, with a wrought iron chandelier. Well, they went for it (she and I, on our own and purely by coincidence, both picked the Midsummer Night. We couldn't believe it!). It is absolutely, positively stunning. They love it. It totally enriches everything - their paintings, the chandelier, the view, the window trimâ¦and it contemporized the look of their cabinetry., which they were very happy about. I had their friends calling me to ask if I'd come to their houses after they saw the chocolate brown in their kitchen. I don't mean to sound so pushy. It's just that I know it looks like a bold color, i.e.: risky color, but my point is, it isn't. I strongly suggest getting a sample and painting one wall, i.e.: around the window, to get a feel for it. And again, crisp white towels and a splash of color with a nice fake orchid or something similarâ¦you will love it....See Moreplease suggest a green paint for my kitchen? +++
Comments (22)Here is a picture of Flowering Herbs. It was a damp, dark dreary day when I took it so it doesn't look quite as warm as it really is. Sometimes during the day it almost read as khaki. All trim is a dark stained quarter sawn oak. I like the color's so much from this strip of colors that I am considering doing my office in Limestone to coordinate w/ the ceiling that I want to paint Limestone in my Baby Turtle LR. Was that you who did the same thing Chloe?...See MoreHelp needed with green paint for guest bedroom
Comments (9)If I might offer one tip... green was hard for us-until we changed the sheen. We kept trying so many different colors and it'd be close, but none were right for us until we tried, believe it or not, flat for this bedroom. Not that it's the be all and end all, it's after he got all the antiques and I have left over furniture. I just thought it was kinda like getting a red right. Except with reds, it has to have several layers to be right. Weirdness! Good luck....See MoreGreen for Coastal Bedroom
Comments (22)nosoccermom, I agree with you about the green against the aqua. It ends up making the aqua look too dull and gray. We have that color (SW Quietude) in our master bed and bath and have found that creamy yellow/golds blend well. It sets off our cherry furniture nicely, too. The color looks great against black granite countertops....See Moreamysrq
