What is going on with my sugar cookies?

I made a batch of sugar cookies and rolled and baked them and they didn't really hold their shape and had a very bumpy texture to them. I reviewed other recipes and most were very similar to mine so I can't imagine it's the combination? I made the dough on Sunday morning and just around to baking them today. The dough had to be chilled so I couldn't imagine that is the problem. Any suggestions?

3/4 cup butter

2/3 sugar

2 eggs

1 tsp vanilla

2 1/4 cups flour

1 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

cream butter and sugar, add eggs and vanilla then dry ing.
