Anybody watch premiere of 'Castle' Monday night?

Seems to have the makings of a good series, with a hunky leading man, smart and fiesty leading lady, and good chemistry from the get-go. Seems to be well written with interesting characters.

I was reading the thread about Roark/JD Robb series (which I have not read), but it reminded me that chemistry is everything -- in a TV show it either works or it does not. Kinda cool that James Patterson had a guest role.

DH and I watched it. He's been looking forward to it for a while. I kept wandering off to check my email, the forum, whatever. I was a bit bored. But he said that he really enjoyed it.

I really enjoyed it. I'm hoping it creates a loyal following and stays on the air.

Karen, glad to hear how well your garden faired! Even though I harvested most everything on Monday, I hadn't even been out to the garden to see how the plants had done, as one of my sons ended up in the hospital for a couple of days. He's home and much better now, so I took a look around, and even though the official low for Monday was 34Âº, the cucumber plants were pretty much toast, and there were a couple of basil plants that I missed, that had some frost damage, but the tomato and pepper plants looked fine. I guess I could have pulled out the row cover, but I wasn't sure it was big enough to cover everything, since the tomato plants are over 6' tall. Maybe I'll go that route next year ... Anyway, I've sliced and froze about 80% of the peppers, which made about 2 gallons worth. I was thinking about pickling the mild jalapenos that are left. Anyone else pickle peppers? If so, I'd love to have the recipe. Or is there something else I can do with them, other than freeze them? The last of the basil is in the dehydrator right now, which should be enough to last 2 or 3 months anyway. Plus, there's probably 3 pints worth of pesto in little 1/2 cup portions in the freezer. But I sure am going to miss my fresh tomato, basil, and mozzarella sandwiches though : ( Bonnie

My grandson turned 4 in April. He started the NT exactly as you described around 3. He seemed to have more episodes when he spent the night at our house than he did at his own. One thing I noticed (since I had him sleep in my bed with me and I am a light sleeper) he always started out by snuffling his nose as if he couldn't get air, then the thrashing, then the screaming. I was convinced it was a breathing issue, although Oprah had an entire show on it and it is supposedly just a brain thing. They said on the show that you should not try to wake them up, just keep them from hurting themselves and wait it out. They don't remember it and it is NOT from a nightmare. It occurs in the stage when you are not yet dreaming. I understand how scary it is when it happens but my grandson seems to have outgrown it too. I remember thinking if I didn't know he had a good life i would think he was being abused or something. He just spent the night lately and he snuffled and thrashed a few times but never did the whole screaming thing. His mother (my daughter) has always been a sleep walker and talker. We had a heck of a time waking her up sometimes. (another bizarre thing on Oprah that day, was Sleep Eaters! People actually get up , raid the kitchen and have no memory of it-not kidding-they filmed them and they were mortified) Hang in there, but you might have a while to put up with it.

Too true, pattico. I found the Mentalist guy to be quite cute and beguiling, but he doesn't have the sharp incisive wit and repartee that Castle seems to have after just two episodes. I quite liked the scene where fairly early in the show he had several cops mesmerized by his literary riff on the potential story arc of the homicide, realistic or not. He was being "the author" in that moment. A good bit of writing, and acted out fairly well for just the second episode in a new series.

I grew up calling the Santa Ana's "Devil Winds" because they always seemed to bring fire. The 1976 Corona fire almost took my house. There was a huge fire burning in Santa Barbara at the same time as ours broke out & we had a shortage of firefighters. The CA Hotshots were in Santa Barbara. After 3-4 days, the State made the decision to use prisoners at the Chino prison to help fight the fire. (Just as info, Manson is held in Chino..he, obviously, did not fight the fire.) They brought 1,000 prisoners & they formed a line along the street up a block from our house. On one side of this street was our subdivision & the other side was all avocado orchards. The stench from the burning avocados was so awful, I've not eaten one since. CNBC is reporting they have the Mailbu fire 10% contained this morning but there are several other fires around Castaic & San Diego. /tricia

I was looking forward to it but also got a little bored. I'll give it another shot, though. Maybe my expectations were too high.

We saw it as well. We thought the previews looked good. I thought it could have been more dramatic/suspenseful on the crime front, but the premise looks like it could be a show worth watching. It was cool seeing James Patterson for sure.

dang!! I meant to tivo it...I'm gonna see if I can find the reurun on the web...I woulda loved to have seen James Patterson...I'm reading his first novel in the "Alex Cross" series...he's such a great author!

I just finished watching it online...

I really enjoyed it...

Being a reader of Nora Roberts books...

I like it when there is a couple with "chemistry"...

Thanks for the post...I didn't know anything about this show...I don't watch much tv.

Also...when you watch it online the are only 20 seconds of commercials in between...Not 15 minutes...lol

I have it TIVO'd and am hoping DH will try it with me....but we are already back-logged with other shows :-( so I may have to watch on my own.

Am glad to hear it has decent reviews -- but I hate it when I invest in a show only to have it "dropped"...

A good marketing ploy would at least to have these dropped shows wrap up in DVD format.

I would love to see a conclusion for Joan of Arcadia, The Nine, Pushing Daisies.... even Notes from the Underbelly -- even if I had to buy or rent the DVD.

I watch every new show in order to know if I want to watch it. Does that make sense?

Anyhow, I thought the whole thing was just "too clever" and it won't be on my Watch List.

We watched it and I enjoyed it for the most part. There were a few mistakes, like when the killer asked the author "Who are you?". He knew his name and modeled his crimes after the author's books so why ask that question. I would watch it again, but DH wasn't that impressed and we have lots of other junk to watch. Too much!
