Nice selection, but I love neutral and have similar tile/cabs in my kitchen, dark wood on the floor. Your granite looks very similar to my Venetian Gold granite. I have a fair amount of cabs, so decided to use a glazed finish on the interior cabs, and the the dark stain on perimeter wall. Just another idea. ;o)

That is beautiful! That is EXACTLY the backsplash I have been thinking I really SHOULD have done. An ivory or beige subway with red accents.

The reason? That floor tile is exactly what I decided to put in AFTER my kitchen was 'finished'. They look great together, and with your granite.

yes, I love the idea of adding the burnt umber accents to the subway. that should be stunning with the F&I!

This is so close (color-wise) to what we are doing, so I guess I'd have to say great choices! I love the burnt umber accents and think your husband's instincts are right.

Very nice. Suggestion, set the floor tile joints at mid point (.5), Try setting the joint on the subway tile at .618 see how it looks.

Thanks to all for the comments and advice. My DH is beyond thrilled that this decision has been made. We have been to so many places everything was getting blurred. Fortunately, the 3 places we liked best gave us almost the same design advice. The only hurdle left is picking the "perfect" stove.

how will you do the umber? Where will you place it...i.e. how often, etc. I love it and want to do it, too. My husband is so tired of going to showrooms :)

lucymullis-looks like we will have 7 horizontal rows of the subway on the 2 walls. Will lay out a wall first before install. Plan for now is to use the burnt umber, the clear, and the coral/peachy glass tiles maybe in the 3rd row up from the counter-haven't decided how far apart. Another option would be to just randomly put in the glass tiles anywhere in any of the rows of subway. Nothing definite yet in terms of design on those 2 walls other than the materials we will use. We must have made at least 50 different trips to various places, returning to some places several times. My DH was tired too of all the running around but all of a sudden-one day-we found what worked so hang in there.

Hi there. I think that your granite looks like it's very busy so maybe a very subtle/plain backsplash would be nicer. (as long as it matches your granite.) Also, the small square (amber) ones might be in conflict with your granite. The eyes will fall automatically on those squares. Maybe, this is what you want? What kind of under cabinet lighting will you have? Depending on the type of lights, (led, xenon, halogene, the wrong hue or tints could come out. Sometimes, less is better.

I think your choices look lovely together! One note about the Crossville tiles: we used 2 3/4 x 16" tiles from their Tuscan Clay series in our mudroom, set in a herringbone pattern. I love how it looks, but was shocked when I first saw it because there is MUCH more variation in the tile color than what their sample board showed. (See below for the difference.)

I don't know anything about the Strong series, but I would recommend asking the supplier about possible color variations so you're not disappointed.
