So many Bathroom/Shower questions- Warning, Long! w/pics
Comments (5)Mr. Vincent, THANK YOU----Your link is worth it's weight in gold! It's clear, big pictures, step-by-step and after we went through it a couple times we just Know we can do it! Now, about that Chloraloy---we've called several places and they don't carry it. Is there another name it goes by? I've been asking for Chloraloy Membrane Shower pan Liner. Should I be asking for it by another name? Also, Husby came home in the wee hours of this morning with a bag of SpeedSet (I had not heard of it here) and said because we have to get the tiles set and grouted at least around the toilet area so that we can set the toilet, it was the quickest setting and allows us to grout in 6 hours. Does this sound right to you? thetews, Thank you so much! It's funny, when Husby told me he could steal 23" from the bedroom to add to the bathroom I looked at him like he was nuts! I was thinking " 23 inches? Might as well have said 3 inches for all that little bitty 23" is gonna give me". Boy, little did I know then, when it comes to bathrooms, especially showers, 23" is like 10 feet -- with bathrooms, every inch counts! LOL As it was, for 30 years when we sat on the toilet our knees hit the wall in front of us so for all these years we've sat on the toilet at an angle. I can hardly wait to sit on a toilet straight-on! It's the little things that excite me. LOL I awoke this morning with every bone in my body aching. I ached where I didn't realize I had places! Taking down shower tiles, curb, vanity, toilet, leveling floor, dragging out bins of cement, lathe, old wet drywall ---granted I didn't do it all but the little I did do, boy, I see how pro's earn every penny they make! There are 6 adults using one bathroom right now and will be until our new Toto toilet is in place. Hopefully we don't open any Pandora's boxes along the way so that we can get this bathroom done in as short a time as possible. Wish me luck! And thank you so much for responding----means a lot!...See MoreThank you! Shower Mud Laid! Pics/Long Post

When I read "only one mistake...the membrane is upside-down!" I got THAT FEELING! I immediately thought "WHAT? I never read anywhere that the membrane needs to go print side up or down. Ohhhh noooo!" Then I continued to the next sentence and broke out in a cold sweat from relief---Mongoct, you devil, you! ROFLOL If you were close, I'd throw a ball of mud at ya. LOL On behalf of Mr. Amity and myself I want to Thank you so much for your help and the Kudos --it means so much, sincerely it does. Am...See MoreNeed painting advice, please! (2 pics)
Comments (6)I'm seeing really really dark beams in the kitchen area, and a dark piece of furniture that is fabulous that it appears you really love..I'm not sure what you have between your beams in the kitchen area..but it appears it might be white..the home is gorgeous, but whoever did your carpentry work didn't finish it properly. I would make a small triangular piece of trim to put at the end of that piece of moulding..first..then I would get some stain that is about the same color as the ceiling beams and i would do that piece of moulding the beam color..only that..if the other side above the dark cabinet is unfinished as well you might consider a false beam area there that is also stained the dark color. I would likely whitewash the rest of the ceiling and walls in there..and I would use some wooden accents that were stained dark like the cabinet and the beams..OR stain the cabinets that dark color..whitewashing the walls and ceiling..so that it goes with the rest of the room. What color are your laundry pair, white would work well but if you are buying new you might get a coordinating color..a wine red would POP out and be gorgeous ! I love the pottery look and some hooks on the beams with a few smaller antique items hanging from them might be nice, maybe some wicker baskets. You have the makings of a lovely area..if you do the wicker, maybe some larger wicker hampers would go nice to hold the laundry to be washed....See MoreNeed help painting this 1880 beauty - pics
Comments (2)I would paint the moldings, trims, and porch railings white. Stain the front door a mid range wood tone and the porch floor a mid tone to dark chocolate brown. I've been a designer for 25 years and my husband and I have been flipping houses for quite awhile. He's also a realtor. In today's market people seem to want things that are neutral and very clean, well kept looking and up to date (yes even in a old house) I think that using white will give you that very clean well kept look that today's market wants. That's just my opinion. Best of luck to you....See Moreharriethomeowner
