How Can I Re-Purpose a Wooden Cradle?

User

I was in the attic and the wooden cradle my Dad bought and refurbished for me when I was expecting DS (29 yrs. ago!) caught my eye.

I know my kids won't use it when they have babies because I'm guessing it doesn't comply with current safety standards.

I can't part with it for sentimental reasons, and I hate to just let it languish in the attic storing boxed children's books, etc.

Any thoughts as to how I might incorporate it for another use in our cottage? It is dark stained wood/has two side stands with hooks on which the cradle part attaches with rings. I don't know how old it is - appears to be handmade. I would describe it as Shaker style, as the spindles are not turned and there is no ornamentation. It's about 50" long.

Any thoughts?
