Prayers Needed for Son in Law Bill

I had a phone call from our daughter Terri and her husband Bill was just arriving at the hospital in an ambulance. She thinks he has had a stroke. He is diabetic and on dialysis 3 times a week and this will be very hard on him. He is in his 50's. They can use your prayers and healing thoughts.

I just heard they are transferring him to a bigger hospital in Indianapolis. Thank you for your prayers and good thoughts. I went though this a few years ago with my husband and he is not diabetic.

He should be put under your insurance, thats the new law they kids can be covered until age 26. It's a wonderful safety net in this economy when jobs are so hard to find. Prayers being said.

Thank you for telling me what I know should have happened long ago. My sister and brother-in-law are both lawyers.We haven't wanted to upset Diane right now because of her health.But, we are going to ask Bob to help us get him out of here.Like I said, I don't want them to take them, I just want to know how to get him out.When Ken was in the hospital back in March because of taking to many pain pills, I asked the nurse case worker how I could get him out. She told me that because he was a relative and that I had let him move in, the only way to get him out was to take him to court. That doesn't seem right, and because of mine and Jim's health issues, I didn't go further.You asked me if he had mental or physical issues that would make him encapable to take care of himself. He somehow graduated from HS, has held jobs, only ones that Jim or my Dad got for him, and is not so much in pain from his back that he can't work. Sears let him go because he told them that he could only come back to work if he could work for two hours and be able to sit for 20 minutes when he needed to. The disability that he is getting is from insurance that he is payin #179. a month. It is not Government disability.As far as mental, he is really a filthy person.He doesn't shower, my children came over and tore up the carpet in his room, and painted his room purple, what he wanted. And his room is filthy already.I put his microwave and toaster oven on the porch because it is filthy and I don't want it in my house.Shortly after he moved in,I found bugs in the house so made him pay for an exterminator. He pays that every month.Sorry for venting, but that is about all I have done since he has been making our life even more miserable lately. He told me he is perfectly happy here, isn't leaving, and I can't make him leave. New Years resolution. He will leave here. We have looked into HUD houses, but they do inspections and you have to keep the place clean. So, if he doesn't and once he is out, he is not coming back. My Jim use to be a locksmith and this will be one happy job for him Thanks again, for listening.

I'm sorry to tell you these things, but I think he's a dangerous person to be around and I would not have him visiting in my home. He's already hurting people but masks it by the silly-factor. But he's hurting them just like he hurt you. That was not funny! :( I think the age difference in itself is a huge concern, this is not a healthy relationship in any way. Maybe she likes to feel needed and he needs a mother (although probably more so just want someone to take advantage of), and maybe it makes her feel young and attractive that a young stud wants HER! But this is supposed to be an upcoming marriage, not an adoption of a troubled child. Ask her if she really believes in her heart that he will be a great husband in the long run, and will be there for her, supporting her and protecting, helping her in daily life and when life gets rough (he isn't, even now...) And will he be a fantastic father of her children, loving and protecting them, be a strong role model, guide, teacher of good and bad, give them healthy boundaries, help them grow up and mature to one day be responsible, healthy, independent adults? I don't think so. Definitely try to help her, but realize she may or may not listen. Some women (and men) will go ahead and make a poor choice even with all the warnings in the world. This marriage (if it happens) will not end well. I personally know so many who were warned not to marry a certain person, did it anyway, and have had nothing but problems. See if you can get her to read 10 stupid things women do to mess up their lives by Dr. Laura Schlessinger, that might open her eyes to the danger of what's she's doing. It may be all cute to her now, but later on she'll need a MAN. This guy is a boy at best. A predator, perhaps (probably). I'm very sorry, and I hate telling you these things because I know it will make your heart hurt so badly! I'd love to give you reassurance that it will be just fine. But I think you already know. So now, just work at reaching her. Definitely try your best to help her see that a huge life decision such as a marriage is worth pushing back to make sure she's making the right decision. Hopefully in that time she'll realize the mistake of being with him. All the best to you and your daughter!!! (((HUG)))

HI Brittnee! A daughter is much different than a girlfriend. Always remember that. If you've been dating your boyfriend for a long time and know his parents well, and they knew it was your birthday, ....and she does buy birthday gifts, it was kind of rude. But she may be the type who doesn't buy gifts for boy/girlfriends, only sons and daughters in law. This is something you need to discuss with your boyfriend and see if there's a problem you're unaware of or if this is the norm. As for me, only boys here....short term girlfriends gets a smallish gift. Long term girlfriends gets a nice gift, a DIL gets spoiled more than I do my boys! :)

Sorry to hear this. What a tough battle, diabetes and kidney failure. My father lived ten years on dialysis, back when it wasn't as refined as it is now, and he was seventy when his kidneys failed -- very different from your DD's husband, only middle aged. Hoping for the best for Bill and all the family. Do he and Terri have children?

Thank you for all of your prayers and good healing thoughts. As of now there has been no change for the better. He has developed a fever. He is still in intensive care. I will try to keep you updated as to how he is doing.

Bill now has pneumonia but at times does open his eyes and he can hear and see and is able to communicate by squeezing hands or raising a finger up and down. He is on a ventilator for now. Thank you again for the prayers.

There have been no improvements over the last days, he does open his eyes from time to time but has no strength to communicate with them. His stroke caused bleeding in the brain, caused from high blood pressure. He is also diabetic and on dialysis 3 times a week. They are having a hard time giving him dialysis because the filter keeps clogging and he can not be given a blood thinner.Terri has not been home since he went to the hospital. We go out each day and do what needs to be done, feed the cats, get the mail and things. Thanks for the continued prayers.

Latest update. Terri has texted her sister, Amber and said the CT scan has showed there is still some bleeding in Bill's brain. He has been in the hospital one week today.

No, it was Terri and Bill's daughter who was expecting and she had a baby boy on Dec. 2. He and his Mommy are staying down near the hospital too so they can all be together. They are allowed in the ICU at the hospital.
