When it is 'patina of age'? Just worn out?

In a recent thread a time capsule house was compared to a completely renovated house of same era (1952 vs 1955 modernist). It was felt that there was a "loss" of something in the renovated property because there was nothing really left (except the kitchen cabinets) that said "60 years old" vs. "brand new modern".

But modernism, in particular, doesn't always take patina well. So, when is it acceptable patina of age, and when is it just worn out? I will be facing this dilemma soon when I renovate my 50 year old modernist house. I think it is mostly just "worn out" but the last thing I want to do is make it look too new.

Patina of age: (IGNORE THE FURNITURE: it's all staging)

Patina of age: (IGNORE FURNITURE: the house has been stripped)

Vs:

"Too New"

Vs:

"Worn out"

Patina of Age:

Too New (?) 2nd pic is other side of room (1960ish)

Worn out or patina of age?
