Thanks guys! I made a bunch of progress today and maybe will have it done next weekend? But I'm not posting pictures until it is done - lock stock and barrel. Thinking about naming it Turtle Garden Walkway or Boardwalk. I'll have to see if I can find the right thickness premade letters that will fit. I think I like the idea of the rubber cement the best. That I know how to deal with and learned how to properly clean it up while at the Art Institute of Pitt back in 1970 :-) Next challenge will be using a scroll saw for the first time ever. I think I will practice a few times first.

I love some of these ideas--everyone is so creative here! I like both maddiemom6 idea of the hallway art rail and sujrfr's link to the art frame boxes. I think I might do something like maddiemom6's suggestion in our hallway for our youngest. Something I've done with my kids is to get them each a plastic filing tub at Office Depot and then I create a pendaflex art file folder for each year. All of the kids' school projects are put in a drawer in their room (the ones that are not on display in the house) and then at the end of the year we sift through the drawer and choose some of the favorite works of art or other projects and put them in the file folder in their filing tub. Other special momentos--awards, sports teams, girl scouts, certificates, etc. also get their own folder. Then when they are grown, I will give them the filing tub so they have their own memories. I love the idea of scanning everything, but just know I would never get around to organizing it all--plus this way they have some of the actual art work, poems, etc. which they created. Now oldest DS took a pottery class last year and came home with several pieces--he gave several out all out to his uncles/aunts this year who were thrilled to get a personalized piece of art from him.

Pal - I thought same as Annie....Naaaaw not Kincade! I actually really liked the floral painting in your design though. I came across it in one of my searches last night. Humph, but I already forget now the artists name! This is such a great exercise for the mind. Mine has been really REALLY out of shape for years. "Personally embellished". Ha! Now we know his technique for achieving the shimmering highlights of morning dew glistening of each leaf or that diamond glint on a trickling brook. His DNA signed works cost extra. I remember as a teen going to a Kincade gallery. It was in the Mall. It was like walking into a dark cavern. The paintings would have small picture lights above each. But some special works had tiny lights embedded somehow behind the frame so the street lamps and house windows lit up. Now that is realism! Annie - That's awesome! The houzz pics droopy chair is absolutely perfect. Cawaps - I love your interpretation room! The ant on the red half round table is my favorite. I want to try my own, but I am not sure how you guys do these. I am using an iPad. Does anyone know if there is an apple app to make these boards? I will look, but for now I will watch and learn. With the iron on transfers, you can simply put the design on the printer to copy and use the transfer as the paper you print the copy onto, testing on regular paper first and making sure you put the paper in the right way (most are loaded with the back of the paper facing up). If you have the ability to scan, you can use any number of online services or even take the image as a data file (SD card, flash drive or even on your phone) and get them printed. We ordered a bunch or graduation gifts from Costco's photo services one year and I have used York Photo for other gifts (your art scan is a digital image file like a photo). York has alway had a fast turn around for me. If you have a couple of weeks, I think you do have time for some of the services. You upload the image and create the project -- they just print and ship, York usually shipped within a day or two. Office and copy services like Fedex or Office Depot may be able to do the scan for you as well. Test your freezer paper with a quick doodle or two and make sure you are happy with the results while you still have time to investigate other options if not. Sounds like something I have heard of before but not tried. Hope this turns out well for everyone. Sounds like a very thoughtful and special gift.
