Painting over stenciling-need to prime?

RNmomof2 zone 5

I'm getting ready to paint my daughter's bedroom. We had stenciled butterflies, ladybugs, etc. on the walls several years ago. These bugs are ~~6 to 8 inches in diameter and were painted with craft paint.

Do I need to prime the walls or can I just paint right over these bugs? The walls are yellow so I will probably need two coats anyway. The new color will be Waverly Cadet blue from Lowes ( a mid toned blue). Thanks for any help!
