Piano teaching space

I teach piano lessons in our living room. To help motivate my school-aged students, I want to create a couple of displays such as a list of "super-star lessons" and space to display things like student photos, pictures they draw for me, cartoons about music, etc. I'm having a hard time figuring out exactly how to do this without making the room look tacky. I keep coming back to the idea of hanging a couple of dry- erase boards on a wall, but the metal frames would look out of place in our traditional living space. A friend suggested easels with charts, but I think that would look cluttered. The other artwork in the room are oil paintings and nice prints, all in chunky gold frames. Walls are a medium sage; floor is oak; furnishings include my harpsichord with a painted green case. I hope to spend less than $100 on a solution.

Any suggestions for something both formal and friendly from this talented community?
