Guest Picks: 20 Fun and Colorful Teaching Toys
Kids might not even realize they’re learning with playthings and playroom accessories like these
I have small children at home, and I decided to turn one room into a place where they can go to play and learn at the same time. Is it a playroom? Sure it is! But it is a playroom with a purpose.
An educational space for your children can be the most fun room to decorate. Use toys that will make them think and use their imagination — and don’t forget your walls! Kids love color and are stimulated by it, so choosing the perfect paint color is an important step. Yellow is associated with happiness and motivation. Soft, subtle yellows are said to promote concentration, while brighter shades can stimulate the memory and increase metabolism. Blue reportedly calms the mind and body, lowering blood pressure, the heart rate and the respiration rate while also decreasing feelings of anxiety and aggression.
The goal is to create a comfortable space where your children feel safe and encouraged to play, learn and create. Is there a better way to grow?
Safety note: Some of the toys here are not recommended for small children, because they pose a choking hazard. As with all toys, supervise your children during play. — Luciane from Home Bunch
