Stroke or??
Comments (19)When my daughter was 12 she had a migraine like that. Couldn't use one arm, when she spoke the words were all mixed up and wrong, etc. My first thought was stroke, and I called our pediatrician who said it sounded like a migraine. I had never heard of a migraine like that before. Thankfully, it only happened again once more, and that was when my daughter was a senior in high school and was working on finishing her senior paper that she needed to turn in the next morning. I ended up taking her to the ER so that they could give her a shot to quickly end the migraine. I remember while we were sitting in the waiting room my daughter was very quiet, and after a while she asked me "Mom, those things we put on our feet - are they called socks?" She had been sitting there quietly trying to remember that simple word. I was worried that when she went away to college in the fall that it would happen again, and she wouldn't be able to explain what was going on and that people would assume that she was on drugs, but fortunately she hasn't had another episode in the last 10 years....See MoreMigraines
Comments (17)Mammie, Whidbey, it's some form of cluster headache that I've been labeled with! Again I will say that I've come to the conclusion that doctors don't have a firm grasp of what causes this or how to treat it. To those who have no experience with this let me say that you wish you could point to a fractured leg or blood gushing from a gash in your body because there isn't any outward signs. The pain and may I say embarrassment are yours alone. Yeah, I said embarrassing. I can recognize the danger zones now but there was a time at the beginning where I hit the floor (sitting) right in the middle of the grocery store isle before I knew what was coming. The vertigo, the pain, the overwhelming pressure and feeling that you are gone! Right then, right there. Yeah, embarrassing. katlan, you are statistically spot on. The first thing my physician does on my visits (scheduled yearly physical, nothing special) is talk about these cluster headaches. More specifically, what my mental state is. He was very forthright when it became clear what I was dealing with. Suicide is the #1 cause of death and at this point he's more on top of that than anything else. I'm not the suicide type personality at all and after a few years my doctor (I think) is comfortable about that. I would be hiding something if I didn't write these final few sentences. I didn't always speak so openly about my headaches. As a man I felt that it showed a weakness or a physical failure of some sort. Now when I see others voicing similar challenges I speak up. It's so much more than pain. It can be frightening, demoralizing and even with a wonderful and supportive spouse at times you can feel very alone. You aren't alone and you aren't a fake, a freak or anything of the kind. Play the cards you were dealt and always remember that whatever episode you are in? Well, that one will end too. :)...See MoreVertigo
Comments (21)I had it and it's awful. Mine was caused by my high blood pressure pills. I really think the doctor was over medicating me. I've never had so many dizzy spells and trips to the ER as I've had for the past 2 years. I've been telling the doctor how lightheaded I get after taking those pills. So he stopped one and kept me on the other. Well, a little of the veritgo left but not completely, plus my ankles were still swelling up. Finally after have my heart started to race like crazy and my pressure over 210, I went back to ER. They admitted me and gave me a stress test, but they also checked my heart and kidneys. Everything came back good, even my blood work. Now the doctor on call started me on some kind of heart pill that will reduce my heart rate in case it started racing again. So far I'm just taking that pill plus my nexium and I will say I'm almost 98% better. No vertigo, no swelling, no feelings of passing out and no racing heart. I still feel a little panicky at times because I keep waiting for it to start happening again....See MoreI Could Move in Here Today!
Comments (30)Another non-fan who also saw it in SL and rolled my eyes at some of her choices; I particularly didn't care for that green trim in the dining room--it doesn't show up online but there are lines of ribbon running vertically as well as around the moldings and it just looked cheap and silly. And as others have said the dizzying variety of patterns layered together didn't really work IMO. One of those lovely classic houses that makes me sigh a little and wish the decorator hadn't been quite so caffeinated when she dreamed up the decor ;)...See Morepattico_gw
