I tried the link lilone posted, but bein "puter challenged" I didn't get any results with it. But anyone can make their own calendar, and probably a better one than any in extistence. For one thing, I've found most gardeners are too cautios, wait too long in spring to plant. (I'm strictly into growing things you can eat, so my remarks are geared toward them.) I happen to be planning to write a Year-Round Garden Calendar for some gardening friends with less experience than the 34 years I've got. Here are the two main things I intend to include: 1. Get the Spring Frost Date for the area each one lives in. That's absolutely essential information. 2. Count backwards from that date, 10 weeks for "the safe veggies," and 12 weeks for what I call the "take advantage of an Early Spring Veggies." Here's what I mean by that. A farmer or nursery simply Has To be cautious. They can't risk losing thousands of dollars worth of plants to a late frost. But we home gardeners can take risks, plus take measures to protect plants against a late frost, that they simply couldn't do or afford. It will take from a few days to two weeks for various veggie seeds to sprout. And you are supposed to set "6 to 8-week-old seedling" in the garden at the proper time. So counting 10 weeks backward from the Spring Frost Date will normally give you seedlings of the right age at the right time. The other seeds, the "take advantage of an early spring" ones, you plant even earlier "jes in case." We all know weather isn't exactly predictable. Look at this year! So next year it might be 20 degrees above freezing a month sooner than normal. But if you have no seedlings old enough, you couldn't take advantage of that early warm weather. But, some of you are probably thinking, what if there IS a late frost. Well, first you could buy some Wall 'O Waters, plstic Teepees with chambers you fill with water. They've been tested to protect plants to temps down to 16 degrees. But if you don't want to spend the money for them, you can simply cover your plants with a plastic bucket- never metal-or a cardboard box. You would only need to do it one or two nights at most. You would have to be sure to take the covering off, or your plants might cook in the next day's sun. Even if "the worst happened," say you lost the early plants every third year, getting that first tomato, bell pepper, or whatever weeks before anyone else in your area I think would be worth the extra effort. And keep in mind, with things that are "all season bearers" - like tomatoes, peppers,cukes, squash- the sooner you get the first one, the More You Get for the Year!

Only thing I find is: MSN Address Book and MSN Explorer. Just don't seem to find any instructions for getting there to add addresses or how to add to the list. It's got to have instructions someplace> I can get into and save addresses to a safe list, but instructions just elude me.

Thanks jemdandy. I would hate to have to print the amount of phone numbers I keep every time I added a new one! (I must keep a rather large personal phone book, compared to most people. In addition to family and friends, I keep the names of every contractor and business I frequent!) That's actually a good idea if I was willing to start completely over. I would have if I hadn't been able to find the software that was so similar to what I'm already used to. Sadly, I am a creature of habit, and I liked how the address book linked with the personal calendar. At this point, since I liked how it worked, I'd rather buy software than figure it out from scratch!

Sue, I use a small (4x6" or so) spiral academic calendar (2 pages per week, starts in July and runs through the school year) that fits in my purse so it is always with me. It's probably my single greatest tool. Since I was the only one in the family who actually looked at the old wall calendar (everyone else, for example, just looks at the football schedule instead) it made the most sense for me to keep my own calendar that would be with me at all times (we're hardly ever home). I'm a "visual" person and have no interest in a PDA where you can't read the whole week at a time. I *like* to flip through paper pages! LOL I also have trouble reading tiny fonts. Here is how my calendar was beneficial yesterday: 1. I had to call from my office and make DS a dentist appt. If I used a wall calendar, it wouldn't have been with me to check for conflicts. (I actually tried carrying around a wall calendar for a while once, ROFL). 2. Someone wanted me to go to the high school Booster Club meeting next Monday. Nope-won't work, I already have something scheduled next Monday. I didn't have to say "I'll call and let you know" because I had an immediate answer. 3. I need to shop for birthday presents. I called my niece to see what the kids needed, and wrote that in the planner (when I go shopping, the list will be with me). When we received the 2006-7 school calendar this month, everything was copied over--that's the advantage of an academic calendar... I don't have to do it over in January! My daily to-do list of errands is on the front of the book on a post-it note so I don't forget anything in the rush home from work. There is an address book section in the back where I put all the numbers I need.
