Advice on floor covering on small porch on 1930's house

My 1930's era house is frame/pier construction with a small covered entry porch (about 6x6). The old porch floor has square brick tile which is etched and stained - old paint and other miscellaneous (unknown) subtances. I have tried cleaning it with paint remover, but no luck. Besides, the existing brick tile is very red and doesn't go well with the brick on the piers (red-orange).

Since I cannot clean it well, I am considering replacing it, but not sure what would be a good replacement for this age of house. My neighbor suggested slate, but I don't think it is age appropriate for this house. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
