We put a lot of thought into this in our build after seeing a lot of houses that had kids' bathrooms that were clearly dated. In the end, we built for the widest possible appeal for resale and for growing children and changing tastes. This meant we picked grown up materials: natural maple double vanity, verde butterfly granite, framed mirrors and modern light fixture. We then picked kid oriented shower curtain, rugs, and accessories to make it a kid space. Growing up, my parents put kid wallpaper in our bathroom that remained until I went to college. Unless you know you'll change the decor as the child grows, just future proof it as much as possible. With three kids in our house, we made it a point to not paint rooms with colors that only a kid could like, or pick age specific carpets and relied accessories to set the theme.

I also did more of an adult looking decor for our girls bath. (ages 8 and 6) It's chocolate and aqua blue which may work for a boy or a girl.

Here is ours - Ethan is 7, Abby is 5 and Olivia is 1 1/2 so we had to go kind of gender neutral as well!!

I have PB kids bath mat - they don't sell it anymore but it has an octopus and a starfish. Its blue and green but the starfish is pink.

I have a white mirror with a starfish pull "Cape Cod" themed pictures on the walls.

Disclaimer: Goldfish were bought before renovation. They were not and still not used for decoration. We did change rocks to match bathroom because pink rocks didn't go. All children( 1 girl 3 boys) were fighting over fish so the compromise was to put them in a place with even playing field. I still believe they have a better life at our house than at the pet store in the tank of hundred fish. With that said here goes pics.

By the way I took alot of heat in the bathroom forum for having the goldfish. Thanks and everyone is doing well.
