These are huge classroom posters with wax on the back. I would need to first put them on the wall before doing anything. If the iron would work, then maybe a hair dryer would melt it. Actually I can scrape them off, but the residue keeps it from looking smooth. I wrote our media specialist, but she probably has not begun to access the school mail yet. I acquired my equipment about 10 - or more years ago - all very old. The propane torch is the way I have always refurbished old boxes and frames. Whenever I remove any frames the old wax, wires, supports are thoroughly heated with the torch, and all debris then scraped away with a hive tool. Not until I'm thoroughly happy with the cleansing, are new wax inserts, wires, etc. replaced. Easiest way to go - I don't care to use lye to disinfect the frames. I do wash the frames after they have been torched, to remove as much chared substance as possible. The bees don't seem to mind and the honey is not contaminated. Just my 2 c's. Bejay

Thank you Shelbyronnestad. Do you have a gas stove/range (not sure if GooGone has flammable vapors). Did you use mineral oil on your counters or leave yours bare? After looking at the MilkPaint website instructional videos, I may try it again. I waxed my soapstone when my counters were fairly new--about 6 years ago. No problems until I overcleaned them during the pandemic and removed the wax in large patches. I tried to remove the remaining wax (and some nicks) by sanding it off then rewaxing. Per their videos, I didn't completely remove the old product, I used too much new product and left it on too long leaving me with the sticky, splotchy mess that I now need to remove. I really liked the Milkpaint wax the first time!!
