Where and how do you store your Onions, Potatoes & Garlic
Comments (14)I store the entire harvest of garlic and onions from my backyard in the cool garage. I keep only a small amount in nice ceramic trays on the countertop near the main prep area in my kitchen. I dislike supermarket onions and garlic because they tend to start rotting or shriveling in storage. The onions I harvest never seem to rot and my garlic stores excellently for two years, at least. I don't grow potatoes, so I don't have a ton to store until the next harvest. The 10lbs bag I bring from the supermarket goes into a lower cabinet in the kitchen - I make sure to keep my potatoes in a dark place. No spoilage since I go through them quickly....See MoreHow do you store your jewelry?
Comments (20)I have a lot of jewelry---Kenneth Jay Lane, Joan Rivers, Kate Spade, Nadri and others. It is in the boxes. I bought two of the hangers with the pockets on each side for my closet. For each side of the hanger, I made a diagram in squares on a piece of paper showing the piece of jewelry in each pocket and I put the paper in one of the pockets. That helps me find things. I put my Honora pearl jewelry in mother of pearl embellished boxes on my dresser. The rest of my pearl jewelry is in a Chanel box because I associate Chanel with pearls. I have my silver jewelry in a jewelry box that is made for silver jewelry to reduce tarnishing. The rest of my jewelry is mostly in boxes in three drawers. I have a long clear plastic two layer tray with compartments in one of the drawers. I have A LOT of jewelry. I try to store it together by brand or type (for example, I keep all of the tortoise shell jewelry together) so that I can find things....See MoreHow do you store your lemons / citrus in general?
Comments (30)One 'at home' example. My farm produces about 3-400 pounds of rhubarb. No deer or critter touches it so the rows I've transferred corms, or whatever they are called, over the years are out in the open field, in rows. Critters do not touch it. In the markets it looks limp and crappy. At 7-8 dollars a pound. If I put 15 to 20 pounds into my fridge in bags it lasts garden fresh for three-four weeks. if I place one stalk on a fridge shelf uncovered it will go limp in two days. Just like carrots. It really is a fridge/crisper design that keeps produce fresh. -if I continued 20 years ago, dividing and transplanting rhubarb once a year, I would have a very nice $$$ farm. We joked about a rhubarb retirement in our late 30's. Oh well. Had I continued transplanting once a year with not much effort...we would easily have a few thousand pounds in just a couple acres. (it grows without any extra food or water.) Garlic is another crop that does really well. I send 5 pounds of rhubarb to my MIL and SIL every year. Down south where rhubarb does not grow. It is a weed to us but I do make juice, etc. We all have what others want....See MoreFloof: How do you store your socks?
Comments (28)I’m shunning KSWL, Allyde, and Lynn.😉 I have an armoire in my bedroom with shelves that serves as a second dresser. On the top shelf are three large baskets— one for bras, one for underwear and one for socks. If it sounds cureated, you’ve been deceived. It’s a hot mess. Socks are in balls but that’s it. Orphan socks are tucked between the baskets until the mate shows up....See MoreBumblebeez SC Zone 7
