Comments (7)Here's a photo tour of how I do mine(since it's easy to show). I have a huge single file under my photos files that is labeled 'conifer collection'. This contains the several dozen genus/species I collect/grow and has individual folders leading to individual cultivars. Once in the cultivar folder, I have simply the name and then year(with special details in parenthesis). This will allow me to have a lengthy chronological sequence of pictures I can refer back to. While it's time consuming, the Winter here are horrendously dreary, and thus I am allowed plenty of time to work on it. The entire 'Conifer Collection' folder with it's 3,000 photos and 1,400 folders still fits onto a single DVD which I backup twice a year onto a disc. Someday, I'll be glad to share them with whoever asks, once I make proper corrections and have 3-4 years of growth on 99% of my plants to show people. -Will...See MoreHow do your keep your lemons?
Comments (12)Just bag them whole and toss into the freezer. When you need one or part of one take it out and use it. Easy to zest frozen and if I am in a hurry, I just nuke them for a few seconds and "viola" fresh lemon juice. I always buy lemons and limes while they are cheap..........See MoreHow do you store your finished quilts?
Comments (9)I have a huge number floating around here. 5 are on beds, 3 hang over the split-foyer railing, 2 or 3 bigger ones are hanging on walls. Lap quilts & wall hangings are stored in a cedar chest at the foot of my bed. 3-4 toddler quilts are tossed and played with in the girls' room. My many larger/bed sized quilts used to be stored under a bed in space saver bags. [These things don't work! Never had one that kept it's seal long term.] But the beds were changed and now I don't have space under the bed. So they are currently folded and stacked in the unfinished bathroom waiting for me to find room somewhere. (that's totally helpful to you, huh? lol) I would love to have a glass front cabinet where I could fold them and still admire them. I also once had a ladder propped against the living room wall with quilts hanging from the rungs....This was helpful in using vertical space rather than horizontal space. You could also drape over a head or foot board or rocking chair; stack on book shelves; use as a table covering. The smell of those on your entertainment center may have come from the heat that is put off from the mechanics, maybe??...See MoreHow do you store your fresh-baked bread?
Comments (23)If you want a glass cloche, Libbey has one with a wood base (picture from Amazon). I have a similar one with a glass pedestal for cakes. The advantage to Libbey is a truly clear glass dome (i.e., color adjusted) of good quality (not too thin or thick) and decent price. I'd think you could cut on the base, if you didn't go wild. Or you could add a round of plywood skin. That said, I have a fancy British enamelled bread tin that matches my cookie tin and cake tin. The latter two are lovely. The bread doesn't keep well in the bread box. At all. So I hope this works for you as well as it does for Birdstalker....See Moreparty_music50
