Ever use Octagon Soap?
I bought a bar the other day, I saw it on the shelf so I decided to give it a try. We always had octagon in our home when I was a kid. Well, I looked up the uses of octagon and was very surprised and thought I'd share it with you. Good info here.
OCTAGON SOAP
Colgate's Octagon Soap contains a mixture of coconut oil, olive oil, lye, and other natural cleansing agents. These cleansing agents work well to not only clean the skin, but also leave the pores of the skin opened to prevent acne and other blemishes from forming on the skin. As a teenager, I had a lot of problems with acne. Before my doctor prescribed tetracycline, I tried every brand and type of acne facial cleanser available. One night when I was taking my shower, I decided to try Octagon Soap, which my family had used for years as bathing soap. Within two days of using Colgate's Octagon Soap on my face, my acne was greatly cleared.
Colgate's Octagon Soap also contains large amounts of anti-bacterial ingredients. The anti-bacterial properties of Colgate's Octagon Soap are a real lifesaver when you spend a lot of time outdoors hunting, camping, and fishing. The antibacterial properties of Colgate's Octagon Soap can prevent infections such as poison oak, poison ivy, mosquito bite infections, chiggers, ticks, and other outdoor airborne infections. I remember once when I was a small child, my family had gone camping. My mom was bathing my sister and me. We were using Octagon soap. There was a lady at the showers whom had come in to clean up after doing some fishing. She noticed that we were using octagon soap. Her son was a doctor, or so she said, and he had told her that Octagon Soap is one of the best anti-bacterial soaps. My Mom broke her off a piece of the soap to use.
Colgate's Octagon Soap can also be used as a laundry detergent and dish detergent. We keep a bar on our sink. When we wash dishes, we place the bar in the basin and run water. The suds work beautifully to remove stains from food, as well as bacteria and other germs from our dishes. We follow the same guidelines when we wash clothes. Put a section of a bar in the washing machine, and then let it fill with water and add clothes.

Anyone ever use a soap dispenser in the bathroom?

The faucet is a single hole and the sink is a large undermount (Kohler Ladena 20 7/8") Wonderful to not have extra containers and no goopy soap bar. My only suggestion is to watch what color soap you use. Our sink is white and the if you move your hand away too fast after pushing on the plunger, some of the soap falls into the sink (definitely better than on the counter) but then I was getting purple soap drips in the sink. Comments (17)You do what is right for you. I'm a CS fan myself, but what works for me may not work for someone else. On top of that, when I switched to CS I still had other detergent here I was trying. I'm not about to let the other stuff I had prior to the CS go to waste no matter how much I like the CS. To do so would be wasteful. I just figured out a way to incorporate different things into different loads and use the CS exclusively on my lil ones clothing and the hubs uniforms right now. When I first got my HE washer, I got some Cheer HE to try it since the HE's were suppose to rinse better I figured the scent may not hurt. Everything seemed to be okay for a while. Then I got some Tide Free HE to help another poster as they were having a suds prob and wanted to see if it was the detergent. Found out it was as that stuff sudses a lot in certain machines. Then I got some ALL FC HE to see if that would do the same thing. It didn't suds as much and rinsed out much better, but it didn't get all the stains out either. Now to use them up, I use the Tide Free HE on my and my hubs clothing because I can use an unscented fabric softener to cut the suds. I put a cap of the Cheer into a spray bottle with water to use as a pretreater on our clothes as the Tide washes out the Cheers perfume. I use the All FC on all of our bedding as they do not get stained. Like I said earlier, I use the CS on my lil ones clothes and hubs uniforms. As I use up all of my old detergent, other things will get switched to the CS. CS was just the over all right thing for me as: I can't use scented things on mine and my kids clothing for very long, I can't use fabric softener on my kids clothing, Tide Free HE was leaving behind too many suds because of the way my washer works (very little water) and cutting it back too much didn't get my clothes clean, and the All FC wasn't getting all of the muck out of the kids clothes. As you can see, I have special needs for a detergent anyway. CS just fit the bill in my situation. On top of that, CS does work slower than many commercial detergents so pretreating and presoaking are definitely a requirement here for me, but I use to do that before anyway so it wasn't that much of a switch. I can see where many would not like the CS for that reason alone and do not begrudge them for it. Also, the CS does have to be orderd online as it is not carried in many stores in many areas. Depending on where you live, it may very well be more expensive than what a person could find at the store. For me the CS happens to work out cheaper per load even with the multi purpose pretreater. I'm a big advocate of finding what thing or things work for you. If you want to use more than the Charies go right ahead. You have to do what is right for you. There is nothing wrong with that. You may end up not liking the CS at all, so it would be good to have other things on hand. If that ends up being the case, use up the CS by cleaning out your machine with it occasionally or mopping your floors with a little or whatever you can think of. Comments (31)Been using Softsoap body wash, then the various store brands, whatever was cheapest. Got a sample bottle of Old Spice body wash a few years ago and have been buying it on sale and lately got the body wash/shampoo combo stuff on clearance for about 40¢/bottle. I like tht it's a clean but not overpowering smell and does seem to clean better than the generic stuff. Using dish soap mixed with water in a foamer bottle for hand soap now too. Comments (24)I have a cheap Ikea one that matches my expensive HansGrohe faucet very well :) I LOVE it, but second the "check your distances" advice. I let the counter isntaller decide how far back to drill the hole, and he lined it up with the faucet hole. It's too far back; the end of the soap dispenser doesn't clear the marble, so any spills wind up on the marble rather than in the sink. other than that, I am SO glad I have it. Otherwise, we'd always be reaching under the sink for dish soap or hand-washing. Or have a dispenser sitting on the counter . I like this much better!...See More- 16 years ago
