I don't know the answers to your questions, but wanted to suggest that you check out the Quicken support forums. (Click "help" from within Quicken and go to online support.) They talk about all sorts of detailed stuff there, and I'll bet you could find an answer.

The folks managing our province gave us a tax cut a few years ago. Went in debt to do it. Plus - medical services were reduced. Education was reduced. Services to elderly were reduced. That party isn't in power any more. Furthermore - the guys who replaced them, who swore they would not increase taxes, have been crying buckets of tears over the huge deficit that they face. Have continued cutting services. Also reinstituted premiums for medical coverage. I have felt for some time that it was not a good idea to get rid of that program several years ago, so am not unhappy that we need to pay premiums for medical services again. But I am distressed with them, none the less - for lying. I do feel that we should pay a premium for medical services. I hear that you folks south of the Border have enjoyed recent tax cuts - and major increases in national debt. Good wishes to all of you in the States as you approach Nov. 2. By the way - though we are supposed to have had a free trade agreement in place for a number of years, the U.S. just imposed a heavy tax on Canadian hogs going over the border. joyful guy

I have used HR Block on line for years..Think it cost 30 dollars or so and its a hand holding simple walk you thru it, read carefully and fill in the blanks. Its free to do it until you go to file and that is when you pay. I dont even have to enter our basic information anymore..Its all saved..of course it gives you the chance to change anything that might need to be changed..ie when our daughter got married and we could no longer claim her. Give it a try!

The late ecomonic crunch is begining to be felt in the tax coffers of US states. Several states are waking up to the fact their tax take has fallen (surprise, surprise). Down at the end of the bars in our beer halls, you can hear "Fix our tax problem, annex Canada". Back in the 1770s, there was a guy named Revere who took a midinght ride on his pony shouting, "The Red Coats are comming". Let's hope that we don't hear you driving down the road some dark night in your red MG (or maybe its an Aston Martin) shouting "The red-white-blues are coming!" Just kidding, I hope.
