Zipdee, I just had a brilliant idea. Since you already have white bookcases....and they are a little bit away from the current fireplace....what about building a surround to go around that one making it all look like it was done that way in the beginning. If you take a straight on photo showing the fireplace and the bookcases I'll do a virtual for you. Oh and if you have a straight on of the style of surround you like I'd put that one in there for you so you can see if that's what you really want. Can you tell I really don't want you to paint your current fireplace yet? Wish I could make you a new one and take that one. Our home is a Victorian Revival and I'd love a fireplace surround like that.

BM Old Prairie is gorgeous- someone else just mentioned it as well. We painted our finished basement with it, ceilings and walls and it is just plain beautiful. Not lots of natural light there like your kitchen. I am planning to do my main floor with it some day. We used BM Camouflage in the kitchen and it's on the same palette, just darker. Check it out!! Hi island - thanks so much for your very kind words!! Here is the link of my "almost finished" pics. I also posted a few pics after my potfiller went in... I'll try to find that link as well. My countertops are called "Donna Sandra". Our stone yard had it as a marble but said it was a more durable marble than most. It is going to depend partly on your door style, particularly the width of the door frame or the part of the drawer where you are mounting them. We are experimenting with knob size for our family room cabinets. My DH has made these out of scrap wood to test shapes and sizes. I think that the one that is about as wide as the door frame doesn't look right. Smaller than that is better: If your drawers are 5 piece fronts and the knob will go in the middle like the bottom drawers that segbrown showed, one wants a knob that allows room for your fingers to get to it - either tall enough above the rails or small enough compared to the panel to leave finger space. If they are slab, that consideration goes away and if they are mounted on the frame of a 5-piece one wants the size to look right with the frame.
