Doesn't look very appetizing, does it?
I have a recipe for a raspberry mousse using tofu and it is really good.
And I like it marinated in soy, garlic and ginger and baked.
I have to admire you for tasting that awful looking mess....I don't know if I could have done so.

We don't eat beef or pork, but we do eat chicken on occasion. We are not vegetarians, just don't do a lot of meat :) I bought Tofu one time to use in chili ... I really did not care for it at all. Guess it is an acquired taste ?

Something about the way food looks always affects (for me) the way it taste.

Frankly I think you and the new guy are incompatable....

I've tried tofu several times, but the only time I liked it was in a Chinese restaurant; I guess they know how to give it some flavor.

I like tofu okay and I don't think you're necessarily incompatible but hey! You just met him last week and are already cooking breakfast after a fabulous homemade dinner and dessert the night before! Slow down a little bit, Bobby.

Ohiomom... I remember when green and purple ketchup came out. We got the green version. I must have been 17 and I tried it on some scrambled eggs. It was TERRIBLE, even though I'm sure it had the exactly the same ingredients as the red stuff. I agree that presentation/appearance IS very important to the interpretation of taste.

I think that it looks like something the dog ate and then reproduced. Sue, you must have the same cheese product. It isn't terrible. The best part of the meal was the tortilla chips (I want to go out and get some cheddar dip to finish them up, I never allow myself to buy chips at the grocery market so when someone else brings them it's a special treat). He apparently has a few vintage appliances (hair drier, coffee percolator, and alarm clock )so I was having fun showing off the vacuums... I thought the waffle iron would be a nice touch. I was wrong. Pancakes would have been much easier. I hate cleaning the waffle iron yet and wanted to put the entire thing in the dishwasher. If they would put removable platens on the the waffle irons and George Foreman grills (HATE, sorry, strongly disllike that thing!) it would be great. We did laugh a lot, and the waffles somehow got made and eaten AND enjoyed.

Maryanne, I have heard of holding out. People actually do it? I'm brave enough to venture outside of my social shell maybe once every three or so months to meet a new guy and see what happens... I tend to make it "all or nothing" when I do. Usually all, unless their teeth are crooked. Thanks for appreciating my humor :o) I didn't even think of making a game out of it and having people guess! If no one played along I'd have been offended!

No I didn't click to see "something gross" I clicked to see what you were up to Bobby. Sounds like having fun even if the food is different. Don't think my dog would touch tofu... but now that I said she wouldn't she most certainly would just to be contrary.

I like tofu, but only when it's in Asian recipes, not when it's "pretending" to be something else. Soy cheese, never in a million years. I'm trying to figure out, since he's not Vegan, why he doesn't just use real cheese. (And skip the tofu - cheese, refritos and salsa with tortilla chips would make a pretty darned good nacho.)

Next time when you make that taco salad, use Yves veggie ground round. It looks closer to what you were expecting as ground beef and the texture is closer. And it isn't RED. Or forget the tofu altogether and use some black beans and some cooked rice. When I make spanish rice I heat the leftovers and use them on nachos, and it is very good.

Now. About this "the next morning" business. Shocked and apalled! Shocked and apalled. Now dish the details. Tee hee!

I am vegetarian. and i love tofu. I could eat it raw (with just soy sauce) or cooked. I think it is an extremely versatile ingredient. it takes on the taste of whatever it is cooked with.

I think a lot of people dont like its texture but i really enjoy it. There are very few textures that i dont like (detest peanut butter).

First of all, Bobby, let me say how very much I have enjoyed your posts. I am a professional editor and writer in the fields of medicine and biological science, and I recognize a fellow writer when I see one. After a lifetime of such work, I firmly believe that the ability to write is inborn rather than taught. Either you can write or you can't, and Bobby, you can! I suggest, since you are a student, that you check out some writing courses. I did this 50 years ago when I was in college, and although I thought at the time that I didn't need the two writing courses I took, in point of fact they were later very helpful.
Now, about the next part of your postings. I myself am a dedicated omnivore, my ancestors having been carnivorous since the Jurassic period. However, I enjoy quite a number of vegetarian dishes since I like most vegetables, and i want to recommend a cookbook to you. The cookbook is by Madhur Jaffrey, a native of India who has been in the UK and the US for many years, entitled "World of the East Vegetarian Cooking," 1981, Knopf. One of my very favorite vegetarian dishes is on page 72, a marvelous spiced tofu dish. I serve it with a Caesar salad--the combination of heat and crunch is simply irresistable. I expect that you can find this at abebooks.com, probably every cheaply.

Dances... not too much to tell. We had fun. :o) It can't be going very far because we are both pretty feminine. I really need someone masculine so that we fit together like a puzzle. Rule34, thanks! When I was in high school, my English teachers loved my writing. When I started college, the Freshman Comp professor read my first essay. Then he told me that I didn't need the class (but it was required) so I could skip it all and just come back for the final exam. It was wonderful! Especially since I failed the same algebra class three times. It was nice to make an A in something! I put a lot into what I write. I check it at least three times for grammatical and spelling errors. I try to comprehend the content as if I were the reader to see how it will be received. I'm surprised and grateful whenever anyone reads something that I have written and actually takes the time to respond. Thank you for those kind words!
