I received my first Etsy purchase today, too. It's a wool pincushion made from a recycled alpaca vest and a sheep's wool sweater.

Here's how the seller, Loneweever, described this pincushion...

"Once upon a time, a turquoise wool sweater had a blind date with a tan alpaca wool vest. They took a trip through the washer and dryer, and after enduring some cutting and hand stitching, here's one of the results. Those two were made for each other!

This cushion is stuffed firm with multiple layers of another very thick felted wool sweater (there had to be a third character in the story).

The vest's band made a perfect checkerboard to accent and finish the circle. It almost looks like pottery. Okay, almost."

This is an exquisite pincushion. Of course, I purchased it as a birthday gift for a friend, so now I'm going to order a similar one (in pink with mother-of-pearl buttons along the side) for myself.
