Interior of large (36 inch) pantry cabinets?
Comments (2)Hi - I'm doing 2 36" wide pantries that are 18" deep (I think the shallower depth is the key to making them work) and I'm so excited to have such a wide pantry vs. my 2 current 20" wide & separate pantries which are so non-functional it drives me crazy. I'd much rather have side-by-side storage than deep storage (which I currently have - 24" deep - and can't stand...) You will have so much more storage room this way then 2 separate pantries, in my opinion. I'm going to use baskets and canisters to help with the space (much cheaper than pullouts to start with) and that way I can also store all my household stuff in there as well. But I think the key is not doing them too deep. We're not doing pullouts with an 18" depth - at least we don't think so (yet...) - will live with it for a bit. Hope I helped a bit? cheryl...See MoreMaking layout for master closet and bathroom more space efficient
Comments (14)I agree with what's already been said. Your layout makes sense because the tub and shower are about the same depth; thus, placing them on the same wall makes sense. The vanity is more shallow, so obviously it belongs on the other wall. Within the confines of this space, which is basic but serviceable, I think this is what you can do: - Scootching the tub and shower together /losing that empty space between them is a given. - I would rather have one sink and more storage. - If you're willing to go with a tub-shower combination and to downsize the vanity, you could eek out another couple feet for each closet. - Could you carve out another bit of closet elsewhere in the bedroom? - I would not go with a pocket door. They're ideal for spots where the door stays open 90% of the time -- like a laundry room or a pantry -- but a bathroom door is opened /closed too many times. Add in humidity, and you're going to have to repair /replace that pocket door sooner rather than later. - Can you have a window in the bathroom? Natural light always makes things nicer....See More22 inch laundry sink in 30 inch cabinet?
Comments (11)Random thoughts: - No problem with a smaller sink in a slightly larger cabinet; however, I don't get the point in a laundry sink. You can do a pre-soak or a gentle wash in a washing machine. Seems like one more thing to cost money and one more thing to break. I'd much rather have a cabinet top on which to set my basket. - If it did look funny, so what? This is a garage. If it were inside, I'd say, the same thing: so what? It's a laundry room. - I'd actually rather get rid of the cabinet and un-stack the machines. Of course, I think that because I am very short. I tried stacked machines in the store and realized it would never be a choice for me. - To avoid splash problems, run a piece of laminate up the side of the washer/dryer cabinet....See MoreKitchen Reorg Dilemna: flow through pantry + efficient workspace
Comments (6)Mama goose and HU-187528210, you’ve given me a lot to think about! Mama goose, I really love the flow you created. That little window is actually overlapping the edge of the counter by several inches, making relocating the fridge or having a full-sized pantry there impossible (without filling in the window) But the range there might work perfectly. Thank you for that suggestion. HU-187528210, I think what throws me off about the designer’s suggestion is the potential lack of storage in my working zone. I hate that I currently travel from my zone by the range, around the corner of the existing island, to the sink, dw, or to dinnerware. And when someone else is in the kitchen they’re almost always near the fridge, which is smack dab in my route. So it was a ‘must’ to have a sink closer. But in the version facing the existing range, a sink in the island takes up quite a lot of counter space and storage below. I thought we were unable to put a cooktop in front of a window, so I’ll have to revisit that option. And I do love the two side-by-side islands. I’d have to consider the traffic flow into the pantry. At the moment it’s just me and my husband contending for traffic routes, but as the kids grow I know they’ll be running in and out often, likely straight to the fridge and/or pantry. So I want them to be able to make that trip without too much interruption....See Moretalley_sue_nyc
